Herby, you are a brave person and your kitty was a lucky puss.
Now I have to go and redo my makeup as I look like I was at the funeral.
It will get better, it just takes time.
Take care

Hugs to poor Pye cat. xxxx
Today won't be a NSD as I've already spent! Had to pop to the shop for squash and pop, run out completely and with it being a warm day and being at home all day I need drinks.
Will also have to post 2 letters later but they don't count as they're essentials (job apps).
Good luck to everyone else.0 -
Yesterday was a NSD, and I've committed to another one today so that's 2/18 :cool:retirement savings target: £100,000 by 2032 start: £21200 Jun 22, Jun 23:0

Very sorry to hear about your cat Herbie, I lost mine last year suddenly, so know how devastating it can be.
Well done to everyone on their NSDs yesterday, I think today will be my second one (fingers crossed).
Good luck for today!

I'd not had a pet--occasional fairground goldfish & we know how long they used to survive
--until Iggie joined us about four years ago. She loves to sit on your head & wants to be the centre of attention..& of course we have Pup now too. But I've told The Offspring that once anything happens..that's it! I don't want to go through any more emotional distress than I have to..perhaps it's because I've lost too many humans before their time..
Still. ((HUGS)) for those struggling with whatever demons are in your lives just now..
No 2 for yesterday, thanks Spoon.

Sounds like another world doesn't it.
My local woolshops have been dying out over the years so that now I'd have to drive for about 40 mins to get to my nearest one. So it's ebay for me.
My cat is improving slowly. He's still hopping around on 3 legs and looking very forlorn but he has started eating a little so fingers crossed he's on the mend. I just hope that when he's allowed out again he doesn't start fighting again, I can't afford vets bills of that magnitude.:(
Herbie, how are you doing honey? There have been some lovely posts on here I sincerely hope they have helped.
Spoon I've just noticed, your avatar and mine might just make us family members what do you think? BTW can I bring my pet heffalump to the next meet up? He's one of the purple variety and well house trained. :rotfl::rotfl:
I've got to wait in for a parcel to be collected today so I'm hoping that I can make today a nsd. I need a few things but I've decided that I can do without spuds and rubber gloves for a day and I'll wait till I do my shopping tomorrow.
So today is housework, knitting, watching TV, sitting on the balcony reading and a lot of forum surfing. Sounds like heaven :A
What's everyone else up to?
Hi Moneypenny -
Re: Knitting - I'm just reviving my knitting at the ripe old age of 50! My Gran taught me as a child, but I lost interest as my Mum is a great knitter and it was much easier to put my "order" in and she would knit it! I decided to have another go as I needed something to occupy my time instead of shopping! :rotfl:I started off just doing squares for practice, then progressed onto wee hats for charity - our church collects them and they go to an orphanage in Romania. Then I decided to knit my cardi which is waiting to be sewn up. I agree re the wool shop situation, Im very lucky to have one nearby, in fact Ive got two, but even in Edinburgh, woolshops are rarer than hens teeth. I have a Hobbycraft nearby too, but I like to support the smaller shops if I can. However, I must confess that I use ebay for big buys of wool/ thread( I cross stitch too).
Hope your kitty is on the mend - vet's bill are no joke, but what can you do? Enjoy your day on the balcony - lovely!Herbaholic wrote: »The odd thing was DH didn't have time to bury my baby yesterday morning he had to go back to work, so we left him in a box in the garage. Ever since I saw Poltergeist in the 80's and the little girl buried her goldfish with photo, food etc. I've done the same, all my little darlings go to the big comfy sofa in the sky with a toy, some treats, a photo of me and a little bunch of rosemary and heartsease if it's in season. I say what I need to and always end up crying and DH covers them up with soil and tucks them in. I can't believe how much better I felt after the kitty funeral, it's a stupid sentimental ritual but it did me good and despite crying as I write this, 'talking' about it is doing me good as well. You sort of tell yourself that you did something wrong, so it's nice that everyone understands, I know the wrong thing would be to do what was my instinct and keep him with me as long as I could, but that would have been so wrong for him on so many levels.
Herby x
Herby, I thought that was just lovely, nothing stupid about it at all. Its good to have a ritual to say goodbye, after all we do it for our two legged loved ones, so why not for our four legged ones? Plus she was your pal for a long time and you know you gave her your best in this world and the next - so be kind to yourself and eat all the chocolate you want!
you will always be rich enough to be generous.0 -

Hey Herbaholic,
Just thought I'd say that I don't think it's a stupid sentimental ritual at all. My big doggy had to be put to sleep 2 years ago this September and I wish so much that we had been able to bury him. I still worry about it and that he thought that we were just leaving him. So you're not silly at all.
Also, about putting in some wee treats, etc, I saw a TV programme recently with Gryff Rhys Jones (not sure if that's the right spelling) when he was in a shop (I think in Hong Kong) that sells paper versions of pretty much everything so that you can bury your loved ones with their favourite things, e.g. if your loved one appreciated a little tipple there is a paper version of bottles of whiskey, etc. Apparently it is very important in their culture to do this. It really struck a chord with me, though lots of people probably think it was quite silly. I wish that I had been able to pop in some Schmackos with my Zak so he could have had his favourite treat to snack on
Anyway, sorry for rambling, I hope you're okay.

Seconded from me Herby (makeup as well). Your puss was lucky to have been so loved by you.
Make sure you look after yourself and eat as much chocolate as you want to, and if you need to talk, we're all here for you.
Take care

We have a wool shop near us, a real old-fashioned shop but I love it. Such a shame all the little shops are disappearing so I try very hard to support ours (which is why I have lots of knitting projects on the go:o:o).
Glad you pud is on the mend:)
Yes, we could be related (although have you noticed that Tigger is in fact bouncing onto Pooh :rotfl:)......
Have a lovely day, mine isn't half as interesting - working mainly (apart from when I'm not on here;))
