Just a quick visit to send hugs to anyone who needs them.
Tried to log in first thing but my internet connection was playing silly b*%%ers so switched everything off and spent time in the garden (not that you can see much difference) I'm trying to dig out some old shrubs, but think I will need to get someone in.
However I did give the shed a coat of preservative.
Very relieved to find my internet connection is back - didn't realise how much I take it for granted.
  • saver its like puppy training. Give your man short simple commands and bags of praise. Also don't criticise his efforts, or think you'll do it yourself because he has done a poor job...sounds dodgy that but I meant about the housework:rotfl:

Greenbee steady, I have been a single parent of a tiny baby (not through choice) and it is hard and relentless, especially with working full time. That said, it is not something I would want to put you off, since having children is something that you don't realise what you're missing until you do it (poorly expressed but I hope you get the gist). AnW's hope I'm not being too insensitive about your situ.x

just cleaned lappy as sooo dirty couldn't read the posts:eek:

Hi all, not kept up with the thread as OH has been using the computer most of the day - he's gone out to do cleaning now so I get some peace :D

Have planted my courgette seedlings into small pots outside - they are growing fast! Have made chocolate brownies that are very nice (had to test one to make sure I didn't poison the kids :D) and coffee walnut cupcakes that need some icing in a mo.

Other than that, lunch and cuppas, have sat and read, put all the sainsbug delivery away, put dinner into the slow cooker, and then SOAADFA :D That's the best thing about flylady, most of it is done before the weekend so I don't have to feel guilty about not doing housework.

You're not :) it's a fact of life DH is not here and I am having to do this on my own, but then I am not on my own as I have good family and friends around me to help (which is a godsend). I don't believe any parents sets off down this road thinking they will become a single parent through choice. Life, divorce/separation and death happen which means there are lots of single parents out there, it's how you cope with it that marks you out. But like you say it is the BEST job in the world and the rewards are worth all the trials and tribulations :D

Miss A and I have been working on the ROD again  and we found some carpet in there :T To the casual observer it still looks (and is) a bomb site but we know huge progress has been made so are feeling justifiably pleased with oursleves.

Just spoken to toots who sounded in good form :)

Sorry - don;t have children - they're smelly, filthy, crude, expensive little horrors  We have friends with a 1yo coming tomorrow - hope it doesn't make DD broody

If you wait until your are financially secure it will never happen! No one in their right mind would have kids if it was all based on the affordability factor. It's like everything else, you have to cut your cloth accordingly. I know it is not costing us in excess of £14k for Miss A and W, if the figures were right then Piggers would be forking out over £57k a year for her brood

That figure of £150k to raise a child includes loss of earnings for one parent for several years, IIRC. Obviously, then, the figure reduces with subsequent children, as you only lose earnings once :)

Off to see what's left on my list, then I think Stella will be coming over

I know what you mean... and I know there are no guarantees, but I do want to try to go into it hoping I won't be on my own. I just don't want to make a decision about who I plan to spend the rest of my life with based on the fact that I'm a bit broody right now :o because that wouldn't be fair...

My dad got me a job as an aupair one christmas holidays when I was at Uni, for a friend who had 4 and a 5th on the way. I think he hoped it would put me off for a bit ;). I still see all 5 regularly, but it certainly made me realise how much hard work it was!

I presume the parent who took that photo did it for the insurance claim...

My ex-hubby ensured that we would never face a similar problem.
