it's all moot until the phone is announced though as no-one actually knows what is going to be in it.

Providing they do really have access to an iphone 4 it is an lcd screen.

And if im honest, i think its more down to the cover over the screen that affects visibility in sun. A high gloss finish will reflect a lot more light than one designed to be anti-glare. Taking this away, i still believe AMOLED has superior legibility in light, today i compared my n97 and Desire and found the desire much easier to see in the light (when it appeared). Interestingly, it also reflects a lot less light from my laser pen back at you showing its abilities.

I think your a fool and like others, Mr Jobs has you over a barrel if he and others have led you to believe LCD is superior.

I have not been led to believe anything actually, i'm talking from personal experience. You might be bothered to dig up those links but I can't be to show all the people that say AMOLED isn't there yet in terms of direct sunlight use. Search google for comparisons even for the handsets you mention. The nexus screen is whack in direct sunlight, ive used one!

IPS is used on the iPad and the display is just amazing so you is the fool my friend for being led to believe AMOLED is where its gotta be ;)

I believe 3 out of those 4 links were derived from the top results on "AMOLED vs LCD in sunlight" and the fourth being "AMOLED worse than LCD in sunlight?" so its a fair representation of what the very latest screens are capable of. I have also had experience of both and can hands down say AMOLED was better in my experience, even forgetting sunlight though, its pretty indisputable that AMOLED is better, the sunlight issue seems very hit and miss and almost different person to person so we may aswell forget this issue entirely. I feel it performs better, you feel worse, were probably both right and its just too close to call.

Which jsut leaves us with the superiority of AMOLED in every other respect (bar cost) with better power consumption, better refresh rates, higher contrast, better colour reproduction, and lower strain to users eyesight. Am i a fool for thinking that of AMOLED? no because its fact.

Seems to be some very earnest folks here. Reminds me of me 10 years ago.

IT'S A SMART PHONE FOLKS! Nothing more nothing less.

If you like Apple stuff and the way it works (I will raise my hand here) buy one, but if you don't then buy one of the zillion other mobiles out there from the humblest basic Nokia to the most advanced phones on the planet.

Will I get the new iPhone? Hell yeah! On the day? Yep. Am I mad? :D Maybe but that takes some defining LOL.

Enjoy your tech and have a nice life. :D

As my previous post, I may, or may not, be mad to buy the new iPhone on the day it comes out but I can't buy an iPad. However good an idea it is, for what I want to use it for (browsing online university coursework) it's no good as Cisco deemed to write it all in Flash. So it's a no go. Such a shame.

Sorry Mr Jobs but one day you are going to have to bury the hatchet with Adobe and get a life LOL.

i agree very annoying for uni, i actually find the ipad more useful to my life style.

Personally the ipod touch and iphone do nothing for me and would be rather useless as my life doesnt revolve around itunes (ive found better alternatives). I actually though at launch, id buy one if it were laptop sized. Well what do you know, they bring one out!

I cant justify the price however so i still firmly believe that the only worthwhile apple products are macs (for me).

Will be interesting to see what Apple come up
And you'll still have to live with iTunes and being treated like a (rich) child.
Nah, loads of alternatives to itunes without having to pay
