I've been on the waiting list in the apple Liverpool store since the 4th, called today and was told he couldn't tell me where I am on the priority list, and that MAY be getting stock at the end of the week.

They're taking the mick, gonna go look at the desire and the X10 this week, see what I think of those.

when i ordered my 32gb on saturday the lady said they were expecting a delivery on friday that didnt turn up and it was supposed to come today and they would be available tomorrow if they arrived- this was for 16gb ones

I have been told on several occasions (at different stores) that they can't see the list - so it's either true or they're all abiding by the rules. It's probably true as the emails are automated and arrive earky in the morning (before 8am which is very early for me!)

Did you get an email from them to confirm that you had a reservation?

I did try the X10 (in between selling my 3GS and waiting for the iPhone 4) and I have to say that although it's a nice phone, I really didn't like Android. I guess it's what you are used to.

Yeah, I got my conformation email through to say I was on the list.

I don't really want an X10 or a desire, I wan't an iphone 4. But they can't tell me when there'll be stock, and can't tell me if I'll be one of the people to get one when stock does finally arrive. So it's basically a case of 'oh sorry, you have to wait an undisclosed amount of time'.

That's what is making me want to look elsewhere. They can't even give me a rough idea how long I'll be waiting. So it's either go buy an X10 or Desire, and know I have a phone. Or wait until?????? for an iphone 4.

I suspect Septembers phones for sale are already in production to some extent and most likely are already too advanced in that timeframe to make changes. It's not as if a change can be instantly put in place, by the time you consider productions timelines and parts ordering, as well as shipping timeframes it's really unlikely the september date is anything but a line in the sand.

The September date is based on the idea of the cut off for free cases, it could be as simple that if you buy after september then given all the publicity you can't say you didn't know about the issue and by buying the phone you accept it.

As I've said Mines a better signal reception then other phones I've had, so it's a non issue to me.

I have ordered my iP4 from Apple today but told it was a 3 week wait for them to come into the country. You then have to add the delivery to you ontop of that. However, you never know, that may just arrive earlier.

If you really want an iPhone 4, then I would wait. I doubt it will be much longer. You don't want to end up with a phone you dislike just because you didn't wait a little longer. I know it's frustrating.

What you could do is ask the store what orders they are currently dealing with (i.e. the phones that are being collected today were reserved on what date). That might give you an idea how long you might have to wait.

if you realy want an iphone 4 go for it

i find it easier to help those who dont want an iphone 4..those who know what a mobile is for rather than just a shiny phone..

I did ask this, they said they had no stock so no orders were being collected. Only thing he could tell me was they MIGHT have stock by the end of the week.
