Well im on my second iphone4, The first flew out of my shirt pocket because i was rushing to get to work :o im such a tit.

But orange care sorted me out a replacement and it was delivered less than 10 hours after the first failed to learn to fly. ( by the time i got home ) nice one Orange.

So lesson here is... insurance is well worth it. ( in this case anyway )
  • Mine finally showed up today (after Three decided to post it to an address I haven't lived at for over two years). Quick question: can I only set it all up syncing it to itunes etc etc when I've got the microsim? That should arrive tomorrow, although where they're going to post that to is anyone's guess...

I dont necessarily think it needs the sim in it as it will function without it but it will tell you " no sim " or something along the lines, Much like a glorified ipod touch without the sim.
When syncing to itunes all it will do is register the phones serial no's with apple and update it to 4.0.1.

How's the battery life for everyone else? This is my first iPhone so I can't really compare to previous models, but I am noticing that the battery is draining rather quickly. My battery went from 100% to 60% in 6 hours, and all I did was make a 10 minute phone call, browse the net for another 10 minutes, and the rest was standby. During standby, wifi is off, mobile data is off, push notifications are off and location services are off.

Expect to charge it daily. I had to on my 3GS.

what was the damage, did the glass shatter??? do you have any photos of the damage? just curious what the damage to the aluminosilicate glass was from a pocket height fall. this sort of fall will happen to all our phones at some time or the other. just a matter of time.

what they fail to tell in the adverts and website is that scratch resistance is different from shatter resistance.

good you had insurance and that they replaced it quickly too. :T
    " Engineered Glass

All the breakthrough technology in iPhone 4 is situated between two glossy panels of aluminosilicate glass — the same type of glass used in the windshields of helicopters and high-speed trains. Chemically strengthened to be 20 times stiffer and 30 times harder than plastic, the glass is ultradurable and more scratch resistant than ever. It’s also recyclable" http://www.apple.com/iphone/design/

I've had 2 iphones 32GB which I returned as it was faulty, and now a 16GB.

The 16GB battery is lasting twice as long for me as the 32GB although it may well be related to the fault. I'm charging the 16GB every other day at the moment which is quite decent. On limited use I am getting >48 hours.

Does Location services drain the battery much?

    I've looked at mine

Can't understand why i would need location for the camera and shazam

    Compass and maps yes

Excuse my ignorance on the matter

Location services for the camera tags the location of the photo.

So if you go to Photos and then click on Places on the bottom of the page it brings up a map of the world. And shows where the photos were taken.

The werid thing is that when i went on holiday i had very data setting switch off so that i would not get any data charges.

But it still has tagged my photos from my holiday in the approximate location (Not as accurate as in UK) But i used no data, so i assume it has used the GPS part of the phone to do this when location services is off.
