Think Superjules meant that they signed up to a Three contract in store as Apple are now connecting contracts to Three.

Yes correct, I paid £189 for the phone and signed up for the contract in the Apple shop.

i registered with three on the 26th June, and still to have any communications, apparently i will get a call offering me a phone soon, but i'm not so sure. Think i will wait 2 weeks, then if no call, pick another phone.

I had the texts after I registered online with three sayng they would call by the 7th July. No phonecall, Although I missed a call from an 0800 number on the 8th, so I called them via 333 on the 8th.

They said that as I had registered and was in my upgrade window I could have one...with the usual delivery date of 27th July.

So, I would call them, if they haven't called you!

I managed to pick up two new iPhone4's on the release date. The first one from the Apple store was shipped off to an eBay buyer the same day unopened.

The second was obtained from O2 on a contract. Almost straight away there were signal issues with people saying they couldn't hear me, etc.

I took it back to O2 who said they'd replace it but didn't have any stock. They suggested I go to the Apple store and get one under warranty !! Apple had stock but I had to make an appointment at the Genius Bar and the first was 4 days away - great customer service for a new product Apple !!!

I returned to the O2 store and cancelled the contract for a full refund.

I've been a big Apple fan (with several Apple products) up to this point however Apple's general attitude regarding the iPhone4 leaves a lot to be desired. I feel there's a hardware issue with some of the new phones and Apple doesn't want to risk a product recall.
  • Managed to pick up an iPhone today from local Tesco store (Burgess Hill) they had about 6-8 16gb models. Just phoned store on the off chance this morning about 9.30 and waited 45mins in store as the systems kept crashing!!!, but got one in the end.

Screen had a yellow blob in right bottom corner but has disappeared now, so i'm happy.
Just gotta find a case, any suggestions??, Never had an iPhone before.

Geohot (the hacker who invented the jailbreak for the earlier iPhones) has announced that he is tinkering with a method to jailbreak the iPhone4. Reports of him having already released such a jailbreaking tool are false, though.

  • I am going to spash out and get the new iphone. I am going to go for 02 because most of my friends are on 02, but I cant see any 02 contracts with unlimited 02 to 02 calls. Am I missing something? Or is this something that it's possible to haggle to get? It seems that even if I went for the simplicity contract I would have to choose between being able to get online or having free 02 to 02 calls.

I take it you are already with O2? O2 are currently only providing the iPhone 4 to existing customers.

The bolt-on options (including O2 to O2 calls) were changed when they refreshed the tariffs in February. iPhone tariffs with contracts and Simplicity iPhone tariffs do not give you the option to have O2 to O2 calls either as a bolt-on or instead of the internet. You may be able to get them to add it but I'd check before you buy if this is important to you.

An option you've got is to add O2 Family - costs £7.50 a month (one person in the group pays), you add 4 friends and calls, texts and mms are all free between all of you. You all need to be O2 and billed by O2 (i.e. not billed by Carphone Warehouse etc).
  • What I must stress is that the Iphone is a very nice looking girls phone. I gave mine to my daughter. I got carried away with the hype of owning one and realised that the phone looks rather camp on a fella.

I think it's just down to the confidence of the "fella", if your not confident carrying a specific phone, I think the problem is more inwards than outwards

having been looking over the iphone and doing the costs
I just dont think i can justify it
the likes of an SE experia 10 can be had for free on an 18 month contract
    or about £400 sim free
on my current network i could get £80 cashback if i didint upgrade
plus the usual 1/2 price line rental deals etc
well usual for all phones except the iphone
Im not saying they are better than the iphone
i just cant say the iphone is worth the price premium
