On topic again (I must try to ignore language fascists).
In a show of hands, who has an iPhone 4 and has experienced the 'Death Grip' signal problems?
I've had a go with an iPhone 4 and haven't noticed anything serious with the grip.
Apple have said they will fix this with a software update which correctly calculates the number of signal bars (they are trying to say its not a physical problem, just a mere incorrect calculation of how many bars should be shown)0 -

I put a bit of she who must be obeyeds clear nail varnish on the black strip, that seemed to cure it initially, mind you got a bumper on it now as it looks better and there is no problem here.I've had a go with an iPhone 4 and haven't noticed anything serious with the grip.

Behold her; worship her. Caress her; indulge her. Kiss her; pleasure her. Kneel to her; lavish her. Assert to her; let her guide you. Obey her as you know how; Surrender is so wonderful! Trouble is with the software problem theory, it does not exibit the behaviour of a software fault. 2 people in my office have an iPhone 4, both on O2, both in the same room. One phone has the signal problem when they both use it, the other doesn't!
I fear all apple are going to try and do is mask the actual problem, by making it look like the signal is lower than other phones will tell you! Even if they make it display a different number of bars to before, those bars will still drop off and disconnect you if you hold it wrong!!0 -
I went to an Apple store and tried to cover the bottom of the phone in all manner of ways and it did not affect the signal at all. I think this issue affects only a small amount of people. Perhaps it's more than one issue - could be partially to do with a particular handset, the location, the networks, the general hardware, the software etc. Vodafone have had signal problems with the iPhone 3GS since launch, whereas Orange and O2 don't seem to have the same problem (to the same extent). So I think there are a lot of variables. It's clear that the majority of users do not have reception problems.0

The new software update WILL NOT fix the Antenna Glitch.

It's only really a problem if you are a left hander, as the signal only drops if you touch two points in the bottom left corner of the phone.
This is nigh on impossible if you are a right hander..
The death grip has been massively overhyped in my opinion. I've used three handsets and yes, if i hold it in a certain way, the bars drop significantly. BUT, as old Jobsy has said, this is a software issue, as the bars were never really there in the first place. The same has been true, right back to the old iPhone 3G

apparently, this is also why T-Mobile have been so slow - as they have sent all their stock back to Apple to have the new update done directly by the company. According to someone I spoke to, they didn't want to be lumbered with everyone coming in the shop and saying "my signals rubbish...."
Ok, so the new software won't fix the antenna problem - BUT it will stop people thinking they have more signal than they actually have. Therefore when the "death-grip" is used, they won't notice it quite as muchMarketing and web design guy. FIRE enthusiast.0 -
It doesn't just affect lefties, if you are working on the device (games, emails etc) a lot of right handers will hold the phone in their left hand.
The biggest problem with all of this is Jobs's response. you are holding it wrong... surely I should be allowed to hold my phone anyway I want. And all phones may suffer the same problem, but you have to do some pretty strange things to them to get it! (My Nokia E71 will lose signal if I completley cup the whole phone in both hands so you can only see the screen - and then squeeze!!
Still next update will also fix a few other bugs, so I have heard.0
