Is the iPhone 3GS cheaper on a contract now?

Won't be until the 4 goes live and maybe not even then?

Check the networks sites a week Friday. . .

Can someone tell me where the live chat option is on O2 website? I want to ask them about a business plan but cannot see where live chat is!

    The answer is here
  • Sorry for this silly post but I’m completely clueless when it comes to phones and contracts and am I hoping someone will be able to help me! :)

The main thing that I would like to use with an iPhone 4 would viewing the internet when I’m out and about rather than making lots of phone calls or texts so I’m looking at buying the handset and then a simplicity contract ( £15 ). Would this be the best deal available for me as like I said, I don’t make enough phone calls or texts to justify paying any higher but would get more use from using the internet?

I’m just concerned that I’ll pay £15 a month for Simplicity then find out that I’m going to be charged an extra £20 because I’ve been on the internet for too long! Also I’ve read that Wi-Fi is free within reason but if you’re on it for too long then you’ll be charged. Would this rule apply to me when I’m using my Wi-Fi at home or is it only if I’m using a businesses free Wi-Fi?

Sorry about the mammoth post, I’m a complete tool when it comes to this sort of thing.

Simplicity is the best deal available at the moment, certainly if you're wanting the web more than calls or texts. In October O2 will be introducing new bolt ons which will allow you to add either a further 500mb or 1gb of data each month for a monthly add on fee. The beauty of these is that you can add it for a month and then stop it, your not tied in.

Your look to be in the same situation as I am. I'm not desperate for it right now, so am prepared to wait a week or so until all of the providers have announced their tariffs. Only then can a deal be said to be the best available with any certainty, but its looking like simplicity will be at the moment.

Just had a live chat which went round in circles a bit about getting a microsim. Not sure he didnt say the last bit just to get rid of me!

Welcome to O2 live chat. Someone will start chatting with you soon.
    You're through to Ally.
Ally: Hi I'm Ally from O2 Online Chat. How can I help you today?
    Tim: Hi Ally
Tim: I have a 12 month simplicity contract with yourselves for iPhone.
Tim: I have pre-ordered an iPhone 4 direct from Apple and am wondering how to go about getting a new microsim for it
Ally: Sure, I'll help you with this.
Tim: So how will I get a microsim? Thanks
Ally: Please click here to register online.
Tim: I've clicked yes to being an existing O2 customer and no to already having a microsim
Tim: But then the next part starts by saying "Purchase your new iPhone from O2", but I am buying it from Apple?
    Ally: That's ok.
Tim: But how will i actually get the microsim. These instruction are based on you getting a microsim when you buy from O2. I wont get a microsim with my iPhone from Apple as its SIM free
Ally: Click here to register your interest for iPhone 4
Tim: I've already done that, all it says is you might get sent a microsim. Will you DEFINITELY get a microsim if you register? Surely many more people will register than will actually go through and buy an iPhone?
Ally: I understand, it'll ask you to buy the phone which you don't need but just select that option as then they'll send you the details.
Ally: Yes you should receive it before 24 June 2010 or else you can email call us or get one from the nearest 02 store.
    Tim: Thanks for your help

I was in town today and called O2 as I am an existing contract user. I asked them how to get a micro sim as I have a phone reserved on 24th. They told me to go into my o2 store and they would have them. As luck would have it that was a hundred yards away...

I walk in, and the woman looked at me like I was on drugs - "I have no idea why they told you that as all we have are data micro sims for the ipad..."

So I call them back and had a similar discussion as the above chat -- I've registered interest and don't want to "chance" having a micro-sim. Now I don't know if I was told this to fob me off, and I have no idea if it is possible or not, but they told me that when I collect the phone from Apple they will have contract-compatible micro-sims available for hand out at the store...

Can anyone verify if this is true or not? I am seriously unimpressed by the way that providers have been handling this roll out.

    /Ellis

P.S. This site is also !!!!!! that you cannot "quote" posts that contain links in them... sigh...

Thanks, really appreciate the reply. So it'll probably be best to wait and see.

Would it be a problem if I purchased an iPhone 4 handset with say Tesco then went and got an 02 Simplicity contract separately or is it in my favour to get the handset and contract from 02?
