He agreed to pay the price knowing that the postage was 11 pounds.

Yes, and he probably - rather naively - thought that amount represented the actual cost of packing and posting the item in question. It was only when he found out that the seller had royally ripped him off he became dissatisfied, and rightly so. Sadly people like you and the OP are all too common on eBay, which is one of the reasons I use it only as an absolute last resort.

If you think charging double for P&P is entirely fair and not in any way underhand then have the courage of your convictions and post your eBay user ID here. If you don't then all the mealy-mouthed justifications you and your ilk post on this board will be seen as what they are - feeble excuses for greed.

On most items 99% of people wouldn't bid unless you knew they knew that the bid amount plus the p&p cost combined represents a good bargain.

Example, one listing I've just seen on eBay is a T-Mobile SIM with £5 credit included for £2.09 + 49p p&p. Overall that's a product worth £5 for £2.58 and a reasonable p&p rate, if it was £5 + free p&p it wouldn't be a bargain even though the seller wouldn't be charging for p&p.

I don't get why buyers complain when a product is listed as £0.99 + £4 p&p opposed to £3.20 + £2 p&p, both are of equal value to the seller and the first option is cheaper to the buyer. I understand why other sellers complain though as eBay make less and are more likely to increase fees.

I recently sold an item which costed £5.50 to send but I charged £9.99.

I list P+P as shipping and handling as it includes all the packing, petrol and queueing up I have to do at the post office which takes well over 30 minutes. The higher the postage the lower the ebay fees.

Ebay's very own variation of Darwinism.

If you read his replies you'd have to hit him around the head with a brick for him to have a chance of learning from this:D

I was always going to refund and many have been helpful. Some have just been rude and commenting without reading properly. Someone asks for advice and someone gives it, theres no need for attacks and insults
