Had to laugh at the stormchasing stuff - not at you, mind, just at the idea of it. Having lived in Missouri in the states for a few years (many years ago), right in "Tornado Alley" so to speak, I have been through a few tornadoes and let me tell you - it is NOT something you want to see up close. That funnel coming down is probably one of the scariest things I have ever seen in my life! And the noise!! Nope... I know it sounds exciting and all - but it can be extremely dangerous as well. If you do end up doing it - make sure you not only do your research, but have knowledgeable people that know the general area with you. Mother Nature is not something to trifle with - and is highly unpredictable.MSE mum of DS(7), and DS(4) (and 2 adult DCs as well!)DFW Long haul supporters No 210:snow_grin Christmas 2013 is coming soon!!! :xmastree:0

Storm chasing? I hate walking through the rain!!!
I don't know whether you're brave or .....
I have been thinking about the latest homework. And when I think of something as a strength, it then seems to turn out as an overall weakness, and something that is altogether quite bad for me.
Will continue pondering....
Hope everyone else is well.0 -
Thrifty - I know what you mean about the world / nature making all our problems seem so small. I'll be fretting about money, love, whatever then end up traveling for work to someplace where all the babies have heads too big for their bodies from malnourishment, where the women have no choice about who they marry or how many kids they have, where people are dying from completely curable or preventable diseases and I realize how little anything I will ever, ever have to deal with is in comparison!
I've been delinquent this month, life has totaly gotten over my head. I had a HUGE work deadline which was having me working all day every weekend and 13 hour days in the office, so have failed at bringing in my own lunches and cooking economical food. Im moving this weekend so things are all sort of crazy and up in the air. Hopefully things can go back to normal (and money saving!) shortly.Mortgage free by 30:eek:: £28,000/£100,000Debt free as of 1 October, 2010

This is the thing ( sorry am on iPhone will need to make it quick cause it is rubbish) all our strengths can be weaknesses and vice versa homework five was gonna be playing about with that concept ... But try it now if u want0

Ooh, just getting the hang of this, sorry guys.
Ok so homework number 5
Worrying about anything and everything-root cause is the fear of not being prepared for something. Worst case scenario is that something horrible will take me by surprise. I'd have to think on the spot and make the most of a bad situation. I can deal with that-doesn't seem so bad now, thanks

OK having been MIA for a while I have just read through the thread again to try and get back on course.
In case anyone has just found this thread and got daunted by the number of pages I have located all etalan's homework posts (yes, I know, it's called displacement activity)
Etalan’s homework
First - Post 91 – page 5
“now I want you to go grab a piece of paper a pen/pencil/quill whatever and start your brain storming ... there are various parts in our lives that define us .... put them into categories ... like work, money, religion, health, social relationships, personal relationships, etc ...
then i want to you grade them to how happy you are in each out of 10 ... so if you are totally in love with your partner and you think your relationship couldn’t be any better if you tried ... go for a ten ... if you think your job is okish go for say a five ... what ever feels suitable for you ..
get them all down on a piece of paper in what ever way suits you linear or a spider diagram or any other way ... its your work here and it needs to be understandable to only you .. what is the most important thing is you are totally honest with yourself ... you can lie here or to anyone else ... but to yourself you have to be totally honest ...
this is all basically aimed at getting us all to think”
Second – Post 151 – page 8
“I want you to go back over your list and really think about where you want them to be
so after you have figured out where you want each bit to be ... figure out why it isn’t there ... what is stopping you from getting there.... what is in your way? and are they all connected? is it similar things that are stopping you each time? do you really need to sort everything out or just the one and then the rest will fall into place?
"what would you do if you knew you couldn’t fail.... enjoy the advent”
Third – Post 212 – Page 11
“right next bit ... are ya all ready ?
total honesty now ... pick one that you want to concentrate for just now ... the first one that pops into your head will be the right one ... might not be the one you thought of though ...
now i want you to think what is the worst possible scenario that could happen in the one you have chosen ?
sometimes we have to see the worst to drive us to do our best (this one is especially for stick people lol)”
Fourth – Post 335 – Page 17
“I want you to write down all your strengths and all your weaknesses ... are you a loyal person? are you trustworthy ? if you say you will do something do you do it? can you manipulate people to your advantage?
go on be honest ... it only has to be you that reads it”0 -
Hi everyone.
I haven't posted for a while, but I have been reading, and thinking. I'm really still thinking about about the one thing that changing would have the most effect (I think that was waay back at the beginning!).
I think I've been through everything on my wheel, and realised each time that no one thing is going to make that big a difference really. They all need some work, but they're all interconnected.
I've come to the conclusion that the one thing that will really make a difference, to all the categories on my wheel, is to relax. I'm not really sure how to explain this, but I mean relax from all the "brain chatter" telling me I should be doing this, I need to do that.
A good few years ago, I went through something that was very difficult to deal with, I had to do a lot of things I really didn't want to do, and the only way I got through it was by gritting my teeth and telling myself to "just get though this (whatever that thing was) and then I can relax". It was necessary at the time, but I've realised recently that I still think like this, from big things down to doing the washing up! My days are filled with 'have to" and "should do" thoughts. Having to do things is a powerful motivator in the short term, but it's also really draining in the longer term.
I'm really starting to question a lot of the things I think I have to do or think I should do; some of them are still there, obviously, but some of the others are out of date now, things I thought a long time ago, but don't hold true anymore. These things are coming as a bit of a shock to me, to be honest, but I'm finding that since I'm letting them go, I have a bit more energy for the things that have to be done, and even starting to think more honestly about what I want to do.
I think I'm going against the grain of a challenge - I'm concentrating on not doing things:rotfl:
I think it's going to take me a while to work through all the homework, but I'll catch up with you all eventually. Thanks for summarising it, Craftyscholar, and to Elantan and all of you for helping me to look at things in a different way.
Right, I'm off to do some things I have to do, because I've left them all week because I was trying to relax! (I think this new way of thinking is going to take a while to settle into).
