Yes, it's really interesting! And I didn't realise, but I already do a few of the elements of it already, in my day to day life. We'll see...

Forgive my ignorance or poor memory - what's happening with your insurance?? It sounds like you're having a tough time? Take care of yourself x

Ach it's just the whole being burgled and dealing with an insurance company that doesn't want to pay out ... We will get there it will just take time

I missed this too. When did you get burgled? Was it the house? :( We got burgled twice last year. Tesco, who we were insured with, took the mick!!!!

I have been SO snowed under after my unplanned 2 and a half days off work, but I think I'm back on top of things now. I got down to some Hebrew study last night which I was told went well (yay!) (it's one of my aims) and tonight I'll be getting some guitar practice in. It's nice to feel better again, although my appetite really isn't what it was. I may have to entice myself with something yummy and norty!

I hope everyone is OK, looking forward to the weekend and so on.

elantan and suja - I really feel for you. What a terrible thing to experience - and the aftermath. xx

I don't feel very focused and I am so angry. think I just need sleep.

Thank you, NTBY! (for everyone else, that means 'well done!').

Don't work yourself into the ground, do you hear?

Buffy - I hate, hate, hate office politics. You get it wherever you go, unless you work somewhere really small, and even then, you get 'infected' by office politics of other firms you have to deal with. As me and my colleague said today (many times over) 'People!!!!!'

Try not to let it get to you too much xx

Is there room for me to join this challenge/thread please?

I have quite a few goals/activities I need to work on.

    - save money in order to pay off 3 debts (with F&F's) by Christmas
    - be more organised in regards to household things
    - organise/set up everything regarding our debts, so it works smoothly
    - organise the dining room (which seems to be our catch-all room)
    - clean out the sideboard (you'd think this was easy, but it's stuffed full of this and that, and the top is loaded, as it's just inside the entryway so it's another catch-all!)
    - take time to work on scrapbooking or cardmaking
    - take time to exercise (either with free weights or walking with the kids)
    - take time to do more crafts/art stuff with the kids
    - organise Christmas presents well in advance and within budget
    - cut our grocery budget and meal plan more effectively (including all meals, not just tea)
    - be more efficient with paperwork and "tame the paper tiger" that lounges in our dining room
    - keep a spending diary for the next 3 months in order to curb spending better
    - do a daily blog for my own purposes just to keep track of everything

    whew... busy busy busy....

Just reading some recent posts, I thought the whole thing about academic careers was interesting. My mum and dad had specific ideas about what they want us (myself and my siblings) to do for careers, and they were extremely vocal about it. I know they are a bit horrified and feel that it is "such a waste" that I'm "just" a SAHM (although I'm perfectly happy!). Yet if I was working, they would comment that it's such a shame that I had to work and couldn't stay home with the kids (and they would manage to make it seem like DH was less of a man for me having to work). *sigh* It's a can't win situation. DH doesn't want my parents to think he's a bad husband, but honestly, I've explained to him that I could've married GOD, and my parents would've sniffed and said "so, he works all hours and weekends and leaves you with the kids...." :rotfl:

    Welcome Triggles - that's quite a list!

I was talking with my closest friend yesterday about families and we realised that everybody has issues with their parents. Not rocket science I know, but it does help to know that you're not alone. I didn't measure up to my Mum's expectations and I do have an academic career - it's just not the right one (and I doubt it ever will be....!). At the end of the day, you just have to do what works for you and not worry about them being fulfilled on your behalf, hard though it may be!

Hi. Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Sitting watching my ebay hoping that stuff sells. Have decided I'm ignoring all irritating questions on there 'do you sell to Germany?', no I clearly say UK bidders only. Can you take a photo of the tags? No, the item is for sale at £20 with a bid on, if you're not sure about it, don't bid, I've given clear detail in my description, and after having another sale strung out for a month where someone tried to make out my item was fake, not going through it again. Honestly, some people, get a grip. Questions you should ask yourself is 1. Do I like it? 2. Am i prepared to pay the current bid amount for it? 3. Could I get something of a similar quality in a shop for much less? What next? Can you bring it round to my house and let me inspect and wear it for a day before I bid on it?

Sorry I shouldn't rant on here, but one of my challenges was not to worry so much about every tiny thing, so here's my attempt in not being bullied by ebayers. Last time I tried to sell something it was a belt, they wanted length, width, and then length on the 1st and 2nd and 3rd holes. I did all that, and then they didn't bid. The belt was being sold, unworn for £20, it was designer, with patent leather, crochet detail and the leather on the inside was as soft as a peach. If you went into M&S you'd pay £20 for a thin strip of a belt that was made of synthetic material (I can say this because I bought one for £2 and the tag said £19.50), what do these people want? Honestly!

Anyway apologies again, I'll shuffle off grumbling to myself and have another check. grumble, grumble.

    :)
