Hi all, I've not posted for a bit but I think this is one of those threads that acts like a conversation where you dip in and out when it is relevant.
It is welcome to find out that there are others out there just as frustrated with various issues that at first look impossible to solve. Already you can see people changing habits, lifestyles, choices for the better.
We had a tough morning today. Everything has boiled up again and isn't helped by my OH's illness as she gets very angry. After talking we discovered that our life goes around in a cycle and we need to break it so that we stand a chance of achieving our goals.
A typical year.
- manage to save for Christmas, buy presents early new year starts off well.
- Balance becomes due on holiday, discover we haven't saved enough and end up robbing Peter to pay Paul (i.e. bills don't get paid)
- Holiday comes OH has managed to find a way to pay for it (legally don't worry)
- summer months struggle as lots of birthdays, wedding anniversary and trying to repair damage to the bill payments.
- deposit put down for next year's holiday and start with every intention to save for the holiday.
- Autumn comes no longer struggling, buying Christmas as and when bargains are on offer
- (repeated) manage to save for Christmas, buy presents early new year starts off well...and so on year on year.
So the problem that's been escalating is car insurance for two cars, a broken oven, final demand on HP car so trying to arrange for a cheaper replacement and Santander cocking everything up with standing orders.
We've prioritised and hopefully should be okay by next month but this is what I said to my OH I don't want to just be okay for a few months a year especially when we have 3 incomes between us which earns us a decent income.
We've applied to Co-op bank to change our accounts as Santander have messed us around too much. In February they didn't issue my standing order because there aren't 31 days in February!! What happens when its a 30 day month it always seems to go out then?
Anyway sorry about the rant but it helps to write it down.FLM £170.00/£1430.84, Savings £2.00, PAD Additions PAID

Hiya no_problem
Yes, me and the OH found that we were going through a cycle of the same old issues. I guess when you've been living a certain way with someone for so long, it's inevitable and easy to slip into this kind of routine. It takes work to not keep on doing this, definitely.
Santander sound like a nightmare for banking - a colleague had a frustrating experience with them the other week - I saw the aftermath! My OH has an account with Co-op and they seem to be greay. Good luck with the application.

Morning all..............
Welcome to the gang picklepud,:D
no_problem, i think a lot of us can identify with that cycle, which is why i am absolutly adiment that our budget will be stuck to this month and we will achieve the transfers of car tax,,repairs, xmas, birthday etc etc and not spend them like normal.
I too am having a bad day today, slept in and ive had a really bad tummy for the last couple of days (is it catching!!!), don't want to eat as im bloated, sickly etc, so not going to do a lot today, whilst im resting might as well get on with homework 3:eek:
Love to all...............Im not financially savvy as im still learning but i love to support anyone that needs it and give virual hug's and tea!!!Can't do Bickie's Sorry, need to lose weight!!!Challenge 1 : Sealed Pot Challenge, No : 810Challenge 2 : Dragon's wake up callChallenge 3 : Aug 8/15 NSD's0 -
yes, I didn't go down the official gluten intolerance testing route myself - I did it with my friend, the PT who's also a nutritional expert and by elimination. We suspected gluten was the main culprit so added other things back in first, and when they didn't cause me major grief (ie, no severe IBS and minimal bloating or weight gain, we realised that I only had mild or no issues. I haven't touched any bread, pasta or rice since 1st October last year. Funny though, cabbage caught me by surprise - it must be a long time since I've eaten it!
I think that the body does sometimes need to readjust if we change our food intake significantly! I can't imagine not eating meat any more - and I used to be veggie at uni!). Maybe getting back to a good range of nutritious foods - veg, meat, fish and fruit (no gluten!) plus a good multivitamin might help?
Like I'm an expert... I've learned a lot from my adventures of late - and I have a very useful friend, lol!
Thanks for the hugs. I'll be glad when it goes away!
I hope you're feeling better now Krisp. I have problems with some veg when it's raw but it's fine when it's cooked. Very strange. No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -
Apologies in advance, I think this might turn into an epic.
I joined this thread full of enthusiasm, but for over a week I have been feeling very lethargic, no energy, no interest in doing anything except read rubbish or gaze into space. I knew I wasn’t ill and couldn’t work out what was wrong – then I started to remember something I had read years ago, so had a rummage through my bookshelves and found this.
Ring bells with anyone else??
"If you’ve ever had any of the following thoughts, feelings, or experiences in the course of trying to do or get what you want, you have met fear. Put a check mark beside the ones that are familiar to you, because you’re going to be meeting them again very soon.
An overwhelming desire to sleep: you’re suddenly so tired
An overwhelming desire to eat: you’re suddenly famished
An overwhelming attraction to the paperback rack: you must read Love’s Tender Fury or the latest Travis McGee mystery now
The soothing thought, “I’ve got plenty of time. It can wait till tomorrow.”
A suddenly blank mind: you were fermenting with plans and ideas, now you’re the Village Idiot
A sudden ferment of plans and ideas about eighteen other dreams you’d rather have first, before this one (“Gee, I’ve never been to Europe . . . I can always start my business when I get back.”)
A sudden loss of interest in your goal: it fascinated you in theory, but in reality it’s boring, not for you at all (NOTE: Hidden fear will try to trick you into changing your goal whenever it starts getting challenging. That’s why so many of us have picked up and dropped so many activities—not because we’re “dilettantes” who can’t make up our minds.)
A sudden conviction that you don’t have what it takes for this goal (“Whatever made me think I was aggressive enough for a job in sales? I’m really a very shy, retiring person.”)
When fear strikes—whether it’s bare-faced or in one of these disguises— what’s to stop you from saying, “I’ve changed my mind. I’m not ready yet”? What’s to stop you from tearing up all your charts, stuffing them in the wastebasket, kicking this book into a corner, and deciding that goals are just a bad ego trip and you’d rather join a Zen monastery or get pregnant instead?"
So now I think I have worked out what has happened I just have to work out how to drag myself out of it.
By the way if anyone is interested this is the link to the original information0 -

Hey true. Good, I'm glad you feel better about it. I think sometimes, we need to let new ideas or actions 'bed in' before they feel good.
Wow. I should take some of my own advice.... lol!
I'm better today - back at work and busy with it - but that's good - the day has flown by, so far!
