Just a quick update before I go to work (late night tonight). I forgot my lunch last Monday and so had to go to the Coop to buy a sandwich and got a few other things while I was there (all needed so not really a waste). Did my main shop late last night at Mr S and got a couple of bargains - a whole iceberg lettuce for 50p and 8 white rolls for 32p. It was nice and quiet shopping then but of course the F&V weren't so hot and they had lots of empty spaces on the shelves!
Anyway I have £95 for two more big shops and we are away for the last weekend of the month - hopefully it is 'do-able!'
Good luck everyone and keep up the good work!

just wondering if anyone shops at Waitrose?
I have always avoided it as i thought it to expensive, but my friend says she always goes there as waitrose essential stuff is a really good price and excellent quality
does anyone have any experience in waitrose essential items?0 -
I really like Waitrose and would shop there every week if it was closer. Their basic range is great and it really is good quality. They also reduce stuff pretty quickly too so you get good value whoopsies. One of their best things is if you sign up for a scanner (which is free) it allows you to check your shopping total as you go round, so you know exactly how much you are spending. They also have very good meat and fish counters too! I really like shopping there as it isn't all in family pack bags which I wouldn't eat.
Enjoy!
A NSD day for me today. Had another med appointment then a friend is coming over for lunch.
Enjoy the day all xxxFeb GC: £200 Spent: £190.790 -

Hi Angel, without ordering it from an online source which incurs extra postage I can't get the Dove's Farm yeast near me, where do you get yours? I can get the Allinson Dried Active Baking Yeast and wondered if you or anyone has used this and what they think of it?
I've been using the Mr T Fast Acting yeast and the Hovis one and the loaves these days are coming out heavy, I thought I was doing something wrong, hadn't occurred to me it could be the yeast! My DH said that Mr T and Hovis are putting some anti-rising agent in with the yeast so all our bread comes out icky which will stop us making our own cheaper bread and going back to buying their ready made loaves, he could have a point as I'm using the same recipe and method that I'm always using but the loaves are not as nice as they used to be.

I did a similar tot-up on Saturday (4.5 drawer stand-alone freezer, plus 3.5 drawer freezer of a fridge/freezer), and reported in on the NSD challenge thread
So I can actually manage for the rest of the year, never mind the next 3 months
The rest of the year!! My goodness!!!yummymummy05 wrote: »well would have been a nsd but the local veg shop had 1lb of strawberries for £1!!! - I'll update my signature later! - I still have £65 left for the next 3 weeks - and all meals planned and the meat all in the freezer (should be a doddle??!);)
I don't think id have been able to resist the strawberries eitherEvening all
Another NSD for me today, although I will probably pop to co-op for spuds tomorrow and noticed that clover is on offer for £1 a tub so will get a few and pop some in freezer.
Cooked Gammon Joint off for tea (ala coca cola) which was scrummy. Just sliced rest up so more than enough for pack up for rest of week plus for pizza/calzone's over the weekend too - bargain for a £5! Also made chocolate traybake. I really MUST stay this motivated this time, I forgot how good it makes me feel to be organised.
Gammon and coca cola?! Now I must be missing something here because that just sounds wrong lol
And what are whoopsies?
Well my spend yesterday was £2.73 My Df's mom gave us 5 eggs because somehow she had lots and Mr T had loaves of Hovis reduced to 17p and the date isn't until the 11th so I bought a couple of those
Quick question I bought a joint of pork from the chilled bit in January cheap and put it in the freezer, ive just noticed it in there and it says freezable but use within a month of freezing, is that really true? Im usually really paranoid about using things past the dates etc.. but its a joint of pork :eek:0 -
well hubby didn't make my sandwiches last night! so bought a plate of chips at work (£1) and a bottle of coke (£1) so hopefully a nsd tomorrow!!
It's my birthday tomorrow so I am treating myself and dh to a take away (from the birthday budget;)) and a bottle of wine (from the cupboard - we don't drink wine and all 7 bottles in there were gifts from the last 5 years!!!)
emzy81 - I would think the pork would be ok I don't take much notice of how long it's been in my freezer as long as it doesn't have frostbite!FebGC

Never even heard of Cooltrader so doubt we have one but I will have a look on the net in bit and no Somerfield near to. T*sco and M*rrisons are nearest with an Asda about 22 miles away which we go to if we in the area. Thanks anyway.
On later to update after todays shopping.MARCH £62.38/2500
