  • Well it's battering down with rain here so my plan of nipping to Sainsburys for milk and fruit has been washed out (bad one, I know!).

Managed to rustle up a frittata with some leftover veg and chicken for lunch, and have a portion of cottage pie base defrosting, so can just mash up some tats and have that for tea.

So I guess it's an unplanned NSD for me :)

Popped bone from lamb shoulder in the slow cooker with water on low. Then realised I also had some liver out defrosting but didnt use.
Rather than waste it - also popped that in there.

By lunchtime or this evening will have some amazing broth and also liver I can eat with green free-range bacon I have.

It is amazing how different 'good' bacon tastes to the cheaper stuff.

I had NSDs on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday - taking me up to 6 this month.

Been out this morning and spent £5.67 - 8 pints milk, ice-cream and two frozen pizzas (one for DS this coming weekend, and one for another weekend when I'm not around to cook for him ;) ).

Milk would normally have been picked up yesterday given how low we were, but I've been housebound since Monday due to a 'bad tum' (which unfortunately means I lost 9 hours pay Mon, 8 hours yest, and am losing another 4 today - hopefully back tomorrow, as today is really a 'play it safe' as I re-introduce regular meals)

Welcome to our newbies :hello: Good luck with your first challenge.

Banana bread is now in the recipe list, thanks catznine ;) Forgot to say that there's also a couple of banana muffin recipes in the 'cakes' section of the recipe list!

another nsd for me today; I'm off to town tomorrow and I think I will be parting with a penny or two there :D but no food shopping needed until about weds next week except for friday's chippy lunch which I share with auntie and maybe a loaf of bread

have a good OS day everyone ;)

I still haven't logged all my spends at the supermarket for June and need to do this but I know I haven't gone over budget yet as there is still money in the bank!

Last night was my first proper foray into a food shop for a few days and I hit lucky with the yellow labels picking up quite a few salad bits half price or more and a half price pineapple :j I know that if I had gone back later, the items would have been even cheaper but I was happy with my buys at the price I had paid and didn't want to go back and buy more which would only have been wasted.

Im trying to use up what I have in my cupboards and freezer (which is full) so there will not be any home delivery shops this month because I overspend when I do these (does anyone else find this? ) I do need to meal plan as I make the mistake of wandering round the supermarket and being tempted by stuff (that I don't really need) when I already have ample food / the meal planned for that evening. I have considered breaking my budget into a weekly amount, arranging a transfer of said amount into a separate account or drawing it out the bank each week and then paying for everything by cash because I think this will keep me on track better. I also need to sit down and do a meal plan so might start that now ! Have a good day everyone. :D

I always overspend when I shop online as I add stuff just to get a discount (£10 of £50 etc..) so in the end I pay more anyway lol!
Im also starting to take the money out weekly...which hopefully will be £25 and pay in cash as I think Ill keep track of it much better that way.

A meal plan also sounds like a very good idea :)

Thanks for the nice welcome, you all seem really friendly and helpful :) :j

I forgot to say what my budget is going to be....for me, my DF and my cats it will (try) be £25 a week so say £100 a month and then its just under £25 a week which is even better :) Ive already had over a week of June so can you put me down for £70 this month please
  • Hi everyone,

gosh im bad, im normally on here every day more or less but havent been posting for some reason, however i have been watching the spends, i will dig out receipts when dd goes to bed tonight and add up properly.

I have been good though and all i left in my bank account this week was my grocery money and i transferred all my other pennies to savings:T im so proud of myself! I allocated £60 for the week so each day i dont take anything out for grocery spends i move the daily equivalent to savings i.e. £10. My WTC goes in on Monday so i plan to do the same, allocate 2 weeks GC money and leave just that in my account and move the rest to savings. I have no need for anything else, car is almost full with diesel, amd im still off sick for next three weeks:( so no need to worry about lunches. I also did a freezer inventory yesterday, altogether i have a five drawer upright and a medium size table top type freezer, and after having a thorough look through and by working out how far items will stretch (and only based on stretching things generously) i have enough food for around three months of main evening meals:eek: i dont know if to be pleased or ashamed! I have now done a meal planner for the next three weeks i am off sick, and will have to see what happens after that when fingers crossed i should be back at work.

So basically i have no plans to do a main shop as i have to use my freezer stuff, will just be the usual essentials i will be needing.

Oooh might come in under budget this month!
