  • Shame no Morrisons near me... still, for now the odd Sainsburys cheap £1.12 for 12 pack, combined with the odd deal on an own-brand, it fine.. and greener than the thicker ones!

sorry Im a bit of a newbie here, but trying to get tips on the best vaule stuff to cut my shopping bills.

I was arguing with my sister about toilt rolls (don't ask!)

What is the best value (cost versus quality) to buy??

Is it cheaper in the long run to just get the really basic value toilet rolls that the supermarkets do in packs of 4 or try and get better quality, maybe on a BOGOF?
  • hmmm, i've been experimenting with what i buy and i've found the new tesco 'discount brands' one (pack of 9) work out better that most offers i've seen recently.
even the recent offer on charmin at lidl is about 52p more for 3 less rolls (going on the charmin pack being 24 and getting 3 packs of 9 in MrT)

i've not bought value but then again i know that hubby wouldn't use it anyway :\

value range is waste of money - the paper is so thin and the rolls so short they lasted about a day. We use own brand asda and its great

  • I always go for quality over cost on toilet roll.

  • I buy decent loo roll because you (we) use much more of the cheaper stuff, so it is a false economy (and I like it). :o

    Hi maggirl,

There's an earlier thread that should help settle your argument with your sister so I've added your thread to it to keep the replies together.

This thread might interest you too :D :

  • I love Freedom toilet paper, they are scented (smells like baby talc powder) rolls of double ply... and I always found myself going to the market to get them because they aren't sold in supermarkets - then I can across an industrial cleaning company who supplied my partner (who is an industrial cleaner) with 50 Rolls for £10.00 - that is 50p a roll! Bargin or what?

I'd say find an industrial cleaning company which can sell in bulk to the consumer and you'll be quids in!
  • I too give mine a squish it really does cut down on the amount the kids use.
I use the ones in Farmfoods they are called Nicky and are really good, they have a lotion added to them and at £2 for 9 rolls I don't think you can beat the price. I used to buy Andrex but noticed that they were getting smaller and rougher.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light
