toilet rolls ? best way of saving

Tesco's value stuff 45p (I think) for 4 rolls, partly because it's cheap but also because it's made from recycled paper and so enviromentally friendly. I find the 4 packs much easier to store. We don't have space in the bathroom for those giant packs but I like a few spares sitting in the corner. Nothing worse than finding it's run out and all the spares are in another room!!
There's five of us and we get through about 2 packs a week.

Hi sistercas,
There's an earlier thread on best value for money toilet rolls so I've added your thread to it to keep the suggestions together.

I like to go boating...boats have something called a macerator toilet which basically 'chews' waste. there are dire warnings about blocking them with too much paper and invoking the cost of a repair so we become ultra conservative with loo paper when afloat...2 rolls lasts 3 adults a 1 child a whole week. lol.Wins: 2008: £606.10 2009: £806.24 2010: £713.47 2011: 328.320

You guys might think I'm really odd, but this is what I do:
I live alone and can't stand cheap loo roll so by the nicest thickest stuff (at the moment I've got Andrex aloe vera) and when I do a number 1, I take 1 sheet and fold it into quarters. With the thick good quality stuff, that is actually enough to manage a number 1...
Through this method, which I've been using for 2 weeks now, I'm still only halfway through a roll! I might be able to make a whole roll last a month!!Because it's fun to have money!

savers have the velvet,6 for £1.69 again. Not the cheapest but I find they last us longer than the cheap tesco etc,and 12 for £3.38 isn't bad. I still haven't used up the ones I bought last time they had the offer, but am going to get a couple of packs for mt dd to take to Uni on saturday.Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!0

We were warned about putting too much loo roll down and to avoid thick, quilted loo rolls. Apparently Charmin is a nightmare for these types of toilet as it doesn't "chew up" very well.0 -

my kids also think you use loo roll like they do in the andrex advert!
I use morrisons cheapest own brand - £1.12 for 12 rolls, and it lasts just as long as the expensive ones! 4 rolls @ around £1.50 used to last a week ... the 12 cheapo ones last 3 times as long, and are pretty soft considering!!!wading through the treacle of life!

know what you mean about the glue - I used to get sainsburys, then tried morrisons cheapo loo rolls - they are very similar to sainsburys cheapo ones but only a thin slivver of glue! :jwading through the treacle of life!
