I used to live on a steep hill where there were bad problems with the sewers; one poor lady below us had sewage come up in her bathroom several times so we were very careful about not flushing stuff that might add to the problem. I found that value t roll didn't dissolve much so I went back to Andrex or tesco/sains/etc own brand which all seem to be fine. I usually wait until Andrex is on special and buy loads!
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

I normally buy coloursoft toilet rolls from Home Bargains-- 18 rolls for £2.99
this seems to be a bargain, but they seem to disappear really quickly. (we are a family of four 2 adults 2 teens)
I was wondering whether it is false economy to buy cheaper toilet roll as more expensive may have more sheets per roll ( more tightly wound?)
    what does everybody prefer/ use?
  • I was wondering same thing as the cheap ones do seem to disappear quickly.

I buy sainsburys basics 38p for 4 rolls and we use about one pack a week. I figure even if I got 2 packs a week its still cheaper than the standard own brand 2 roll pack at £1 (well it might actually be more now).

edit: I find the luxury/triple layer paper blocks our plumbing!

The ASDA "Shades" ones are good, they seem to last well and are stronger than Andrex!

At the moment we've just bought a pack of 24 Charmin from Lidl though. They were £6.49 - they were on offer last week though so may have gone back to the original price by tomorrow.

if Andrex or Charmin are on special offer I will buy them, otherwise I buy Morrisons or Asda's own - but not the mega-cheap ones - they're about £1.69 for four I think

Andrex Aloe Vera. I have tried the pound shop aloe vera and they were really thin. Tesco aloe vera are quite rough!
  • I bought from Somerfield a special offer some time ago and currently using. However, last weekend I bought Costco's own which seems to be triple layer, soft, more sheets, etc and cheaper than any named brand. The test will tell in the future. Have discovered we are going through more than normal now DH retired!!!
