Spent the day admiring my DB's massive garden with all its huge veg beds, fruit cages, espalier and free-standing fruit trees, and enjoying a delicious lunch with everything home grown. He kindly gave me some lime to mix in the soil before I plant my £1.99 tree peony - the lime probably cost more than the tree, haha
I got home to my little 22 foot square plot, admired the tiny fruits on my £2.50 car boot sale Coxes espalier, was delighted with the growth of my £1 car boot sale autumn fruiting gooseberry, watered the pots and baskets, again all car boot buys or given by friends, and moved everything off the little lawn in prep for mowing in the morning. I don't envy DB his acres, my wee patch and its progress makes me smile every day0 -
Today my first courgette flower :j0

Peas are starting to flower, French beans are even though I killed the tops when I replanted.
Blackberries,. raspberries, blueberries all flowering
Makes me smile lots0 -
Some currants growing on my cheap Focus Redcurrent bargain i bought recently for less than £3. I have two flowers showing on my strawberry plants...10 of the plants are not showing flowers yet, but here's hoping!
My first earlies have little flower buds that should soon be opening. I had a furtle in the compost and couldn;t feel much going on but managed to grasp three teeny weeny baby potatoes.
I pulled some radishes todays and also some cut and come again lettuce.
Big smiles from me today :-)Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

It's in the genes!!
Visited DD yesterday to find her outside with sack of compost, pots and home sown courgettes, peas etc all supplemented with compost from garden dalek.
31, married and lovely 18 month DD of her own...... after a couple of years of false starts and telling mum not to interfere, I knew it would happen eventually. :j :rotfl::j:rotfl::j:rotfl::j0
