I'm not growing veg at the moment (chickens free-ranging and very partial to pretty much everything!) but in my garden the peonies are just bursting into flower from their huge fat buds. I have just spotted an unusual, ghostly-white spider, in the middle of the white peony flower, perfectly camouflaged and totally beautiful.

After work today, having the time and the weather to get the sun-lounger out for the first time this year and leaving the plants to fend for themselves while I soaked up the rays and stared into the translucent vine leaves growing over pergola.... utter bliss!
  • Harvested first load of lettuce and spinach today. Should have done it sooner as they were huge lol

I'm smiling today cos it's Friday, I finish work early, my 2 DS are visiting their dad for the weekend and I'm going to spend the whole weekend in the garden. Weeding, snipping, maybe planting, watering, nurturing and just relaxing without anyone shouting 'Muuuuum, where's my....' or 'whats for dinner' or 'Can you give me a lift'. Bliss......I love them dearly but just sometimes it's good to be alone and content with life :D

I smiled today biking to work along the river. Lovely to see the wildlife going about its business. I had a walk around my garden last evening - it was still around 19 degrees at 7pm, which made me smile. My butterfly bush is beginning to shoot up (newly planted last month) and my verbena is now growing tall. I just love watching things grow.
