Digging up the first lot of new potatoes, from a tub I had started in the greenhouse. Had to dig them out with my fingers, as solid potatoes, no room for getting a fork in! Already had some for out dinner, ooh, they were lovely!0

Aww...they're only little. They're quite reclusive and I hadn't seen them before. My garden seems to have an abundance of spiders. I had to keep stopping to rescue them. I hope the (different) one that fell in the paint pot makes it ok.

I have turned one of my raised beds into a square foot bed...so that is 18 square feet of planting. I am totally loving this website which lets you map out your planting online.
So far i have planted spring onions, parsnips, carrots, rainbow radish, beetroot, 3 x dwarf hestia squares and 6 x tomato plant squares...so i still have 4 empty squares to fill. It will be interesting to see if grows better making use of such tight spacing. The good thing about raised beds is that a good rooting system develops, but tighter planting might produce smaller produce. Anyway, it is making me smile.
Also, i have my first flowers on my sugar snap peas and lots on my strawbs now and i am happy about that too :-)Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

OMG - I'm scared of money spiders so I wouldn't wait around to rescue them :rotfl:. Errr, I hesitate to ask but did you fish out the paint covered one out of the pot? :eek:0 -

Of course I did. Who else was going to help it? :A It's not actually paint, but water-based fence treatment stuff, so it might be ok.If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
I discovered that I can make a slatted bench to put pots on (it doesn't look too bad if I do say so meself
)....like Hong Kong, I've no space to spread out so I'll just have to go up

You really are good :A :T0 -
A family of baby blue tits have just fledged and I stood motionless for ten minutes at the bottom of the garden watching about six tiny balls of fluff all squeaking as they fluttered around in the apple tree waiting for their parents to come and feed them. It was such a delightful sight I couldn't bear to tear myself away.0
