Cracked a Hornsea pottery soup bowl recently, one of a set of 6 which we've had for about 30 years and use regularly. Was very upset about no longer having a complete set of six. Walked into my local charity shop today and would you believe it? I found two identical bowls on their Bric-a-Brac shelf. That has put a very big smile on my face.
  • Some six years ago we had the bright idea of concreting our paths and steps into the back garden and inlaying with pebbles. It was never a success as the pebbles hurt my feet and in winter mossy stuff grew between them and was difficult to scrub out come Spring. My dear hubby promised "one day" he would re-do them. Well one day has at last arrived! This morning he re-laid one step with plain concrete and tomorrow is going to start on the paths! I know from experience this will be a marathon job but knowing it has at last started has put a big smile on my face!!

I just wandered down to the bottom of the garden and have seen that against the odds (Hattie, Mabel and Lizzy digging like crazy hens all summer long ) my cyclamen are in bloom. Little pink and white flower heads. Amazing! :)

Went out for a walk and on the way back picked one and a half pounds of mushrooms that had come up on the village playing field overnight. :D That's tonight's supper sorted! I love free food! :D
