What have you discovered today that made you smile?

Something else that makes me smile is that just a couple of weeks ago i was wondering if anything (other than mangetout and strawbs) was going to grow well, but in just this short space of time things are really taking off. I am learning to guage how long to leave things before harvesting them too. I have a medium sized courgette on one plant but on that same plants there are three smaller courgettes. I figure i will wait for the others to get to a decent size and then i will take them all off at the same time and make some courgette chutney.
Everywhere in the garden is lush and green and I too love the smell of the tomato plants and the herbs and...oh everything!

It's only a bargain if you were going to buy it anyway!0 -
I have about 4 courgettes ready to be harvested and this evening i noticed that my cauliflowers have little white curds (is that what they are called?) in their centres. I also pulled some carrots this evening, very poor crop but i'm happy with everything else!Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

Discovered that my brother grows the sweetest peas! He brought some from his garden when he came for lunch yesterday and I opened a pod to have a peek. 8 tiny peas all in a row, I just couldn't resist. Yummy! The other won't get cooked either, they're far nicer eaten raw0

I have three tiny cucumbers - hope they grow!!
And I keep finding ladybirds on my courgette plants - I'd never seen any ladybirds in my garden before this year!0 -
Don't know about smile...but my hubby's first ever courgette made me lol!!! unfortunately it fell off before it had chance to grow properly

To get a late crop of carrots, I pulled up the ones planted in March and have a decent crop, including a few that are somewhat unique with two roots coming from the one head.
Have a load of tomatoes growing from the size of a pin head to the size of a sprout but no ripe ones yet.
Cucumcer is about 5 inches longnow with more babies appearing.
On the down side, don't think the peppers are doing very well with barely any growth in the past few weeks - is there a secret to them producing?0 -
The sun was shining this morning, so just for the fun of it we got out our little camping gas ring and cooked bacon & egg for breakfast on the patio and ate it outside. Our next door neighbour nearly went crazy at the smell of the bacon! . It always smells so wonderful in the open air. We once walked along a canal in the early morning where the occupants of a narrow boat were cooking their breakfast bacon outdoors. I would almost have killed for a slice of it!0

Orange King - Are you peppers in a large enough pot? Minimum should be 8" but preferably 10". If the roots are restricted the fruit can't grow. Even at this late stage it's better to repot them. Soak the compost until really wet so that the compost & roots are stuck together in a wet mass and it will be much easier to transfer pull out the plant by the lower stalk keeping the root system intact, and moving it into a bigger pot. Pack surplus compost down well around the edges.
Also feed once a week with a Tomato based fertiliser like Tomorite. Peppers like a hot and sunny position. Mine are out on the patio against a sunny house wall and are absolutely laden with large green fruit waiting to ripen.0
