That the bitterly cold winter has obviously been good for my soft fruit bushes. I picked nearly 2 lbs of redcurrants today from half of one bush, with one bush still to be picked. My only dilemma now is working out what to do with them all, but thankfully the freezer will keep them safely until my creative instincts kick into play.0

:):):)well it was a bit of a terrified smile, realised what I thought was another courgette plant is actually a giant edible pumpkin plant, they reckon they can cover 65foot of land and I already have 2 in another bed. well Im sure it will be fine as long as it doesnt grow into the kitchen

today my dad was told to cut up some old cast water pipes at work as they looked a mess and needed tidying up but when he went over he could hear some chirping, to his suprise there was a nest with two baby robbins in the pipes. my dad told his boss he aint shifting them put barriers round the pile of pipes and laminated signs saying ' baby robbins nesting do not remove or mess with pipes or barriers'

Ah, the kindness of people. A neighbour knocked on my door today and asked if I wanted some of his surplus redcurrants. I've picked so many of my own already, and still have some yet to be picked. But it was such a kind thought. It's really refreshing when people offer to share their goodies in this way.
Garnet Lady - loved your woodpecker photo. We find them such shy birds. You're lucky you still have a fatball intact on your feeding tray. Round here the magpies come, peck huge chunks off them and fly off with them, and within 15 minutes of putting them out, they've all but disappeared.0
