Lovely crisp red eating apples, most have to have bits cut out and made into apple sauce cause of wasps etc, but a few really nice for eating.

Yesterday I was going to take my son to the station as he's going back to uni, I was sitting in my car on the drive waiting for him (roll eyes!!) and noticed my beautiful lavender hedge which had been battered my the rain we've had all week has perked up. It's about 20 feet long and the wind was blowing through it - it almost looked like it was doing a mexican wave!! That made me smile and I was glad that my son had kept me waiting!

annie - sounds like you've found an edible gold mine in your allotment, even if you've got lots of weeding to do. As you say, it sounds like somebody really loved that plot and suddenly had to give it up for some reason, so it sounds as if it's in enthusiastic hands.
  • Was having a tidy up in the greenhouse yesterday and in the corner found a few pots I'd forgot about.

Weeks ago I'd taken some leaf cuttings from the pineapple lily plants and shoved them in a bit of compost. Some had really dried out but to my amazement every single one has taken root. Well chuffed.

Also, loads of cherry toms, a rude shaped potato and the start of spome sprouts by the look of it on the stems - the leaves are devastated by caterpillars but does that matter?
