Have been reading through these posts and it's surprising how many of the "smiles" we've had are as a result of picking and eating home grown things from our gardens.
We gardeners are an easy lot to please! My husband is delighted to have such a low maintenance wife. He says I get more pleasure from watching my vegetables grow than I do from being taken out for a nice meal - and he's right, except that the nicest meals we eat tend to be things we've cooked at home. At least we know the food has wholesome origins!0 -
Picking my first baby courgettes made me smile today, what didn't make me smile was picking the last  of my peas - they were soooooooo tasty and tender, I'm going to grow loads more next year and sow them every 2 weeks so that I have them pretty much all summer long (and that will make me smile too!)0

Dh found a huge plastic tub 'thrown away" at his cricket ground - just what I needed for the last few tomato plants. So with my half price compost and the old compost from my first bag of spuds I now have a home for them.Clearing the junk to travel light

having very friendly alloment neighbours - ive been offered straw for mulching, marigolds, herbs, strawberries, rhubarb, tomato plants, blackberries tonight and given broccoli and beetroot seedlings a few weeks ago. Lovely peeps!0

This sort of made me smile - my elderly neighbour had been complaining that "something" was eating her roses. All blooms about the same level had been chewed off. Sitting in her sun lounge with a cup of tea the other evening and blow me, a muntjac deer wandered up the garden, sorting out which blooms to eat next0

My MIL and SIL came round for tea lastnight, and after we'd eaten, DH and I gave them a tour of the garden/veggie patch. I've never heard so many 'oooohs' 'aaaahs' and 'wows' in my life - they were especially impressed with the gigantic swedes, as are we of course :T"Your life is what your thoughts make it"

I have a lavender hedge in my front garden, it's about 20 feet long and this year is absolutely gorgeous, anyway I got home from work today and I lost count of how many bees were feasting on the lavender, there were dozens and dozens. Have taking a few cuttings for my back garden! Yet another smiley day0
