Discovered - yet again - that people who enjoy their gardens are a breed apart, and always so kind :A. Yesterday I replied to an 'offer' on freecycle but the lady had already got 2 takers for her spare bluebell bulbs. However she phoned me a short while later to say she'd just been out to dig up some more so I could have some. I'm so happy :j, they'll look lovely under my little white lilac tree. Will take her a hm loaf that's baking right now (just hope she doesn't bake her own :D)

  • Got back yesterday after 2 weeks holiday - DS promised he would water all my pots/produce - to find everything as dry as a bone and my treasured lavender bush (in a large pot) dried up and dead. I was not smiling by this time! However, shortly after our return, our 2 GD's arrived and the eldest wanted to dig up her potatoes (she had a small tub of her own) Her face was a picture when she found 6 potatoes in her small pot and declared she was going to have them for her tea. This did make me smile and son was (almost) forgiven for neglecting the watering!

It's my birthday today and when I got up there was a bonsai tree waiting for me on my coffee table from my 2 DS :D and that's really strange as I was reading a thread on here yesterday about bonsai and thinking 'I wish I could have one of those' but didn't say anything to my sons! Also got a book from one of my lovely boys - The Thrifty Gardener by Alys Fowler :D

Have just checked on the garden - my echinnachea (sp?) has flowered, looks like I can finally harvest a few spring onions, have got loads of little tomatoes on my Gardeners Delight and Mini Bels, my peach tree that I thought had probably died has the first signs of life and my one and only (so far) cucumber is growing by the day.

    Life is good

Thank you Garnetlady and sparrer, sadly it went downhill this afternoon (football :rotfl:) but was brightened up again by my mum giving me a bee & ladybird house for my garden - have been eyeing one up for ages, so something else to smile about :D

Ex-OH sent me a card which made me cry but that's another story!!
