Hi to everyone - I'm not going to list everyone today as I'd like to be dressed before 10am if possible.
I can't recall who said what either, but hopefully you'll recognise that I'm talking about you if you read this ;)

Tinkerbell - re 150 things to do - I'd love to know what they are as it might encourage me to do the same. Perhaps a good thread to start as I know someone else said they'd follow your lead - I'm sure there must be others

Purple princess - (hugs) It's been a big year for you hun and you did well to last the course. I hope you can resit and have a better time of it.

Hester - felt sick at the thought of what your DS has gone through, and at an aget that it's even harder to deal with things.

Kiwichick - you don't half bounce back don't you!! Good on you. Why not stay in your pj's and then no one can ask you out :p I know, it's better to be dressed - but then I wouln't be the only one still in pj's :p:p

Ok - I think I remembered who said what for the above - if I've got names mixed up please excuse me - I''ve still got my avtars hidden so've got no piccies to remind me :rotfl:

Hi also to newbies - and a big huge welcome to you. Look forward to getting to know you better.

Right I must go and have a shower as there seems to be a 36_33_12.gifin the room.... sat in my chair 4_6_5.gif

Catowen - the mix for welsh cakes can be made in advance and then covered for a while - a bit like pastry.

Think that's all for now folks - but specail hugs to everyone I've not mentioned.

Mornign all and welcome to newbies.

Purple Princess - I'm so sorry you're disapointed, I know from the DFW board how hard you worked.

Hester - Hugs not just for DS but for you as well. A friend of DD's committed suicide when she was 19 and it took months for her to recover from it and although I'd not met him (he was a UNI friend) it affected me for a very long time as well - it was only when I acknowledged to myself and DH that I had been grieving for him, and DD as well, that I started to recover.

Feel better today, heart has settled down so fingers crossed for today because I want to go home and tackle the ironing mountain while it's still the Pennines and not the Alps. DH is going to be late so I'll watch the match while ironing.

Morning all....(((((((HUGS)))))))))))) to those who need them and welcome to the newbies.......I made welsh cakes yesterday, delish, but need to sort out the timing a bit, I have only 2 small and 2 large rings on my gas cooker the small one took too long, and the big one , even on low was a bit quick, ended up putting them on the biggy and then taking them off when both sides were brown and leaving them to finish cooking on the griddle....... slightly doughy in the middle, so need to leave them to finish a bit longer me thinks.

Kwick chick, put your cookbook on a see through polybag then you will be able to see what you are doing but the book will not get messy....................

Bit of a dull morning here, feel slightly better than yesterday, have not got the Pukka pad yet, it will have to wait until I go to Tesco next week....

Finished off the cushion cover I was working on and made up two, have decided only to do 7 cushions, am going to do some as kits........ so my fibger will recover.

Mince and dough balls for tea tonight, we are inundated with green beans just now, I hate them when they have been frozen, so we only grow enough to eat fresh......OH is allowing the rest to grow and dry on the plant to use next year, it will also give me dried beans to use in casseroles etc, when we were at HDRA we bought packets of bean seed for drying beans so next year i should not have to buy any at all, I will have my own.

We are having a day out today.....a couple of places we need to go to.....OH is still in bad books and he knows it........

Right off for my coffee fix and then we are off out..............

Morning everyone! Just reading through this thread and the doorbell rang! Yes!!! Its my Panasonic breadmaker!!! Ive now got to decide what to make in it so I can justify its cost to hubby!

Ive got to go out in about an hour so I won't be able to play with it until this afternoon. But while Im out I'll get some ingredients in for it!

Hester - I know how you feel. A friend of my daughter's died last year after having a car crash. He was all set to be discharged from hospital and then he suddenly died! It was an devastating time for all his family and teenage friends.

I have a pile of ironing that Im determined to get done today and my youngest daughter is having her hair done this afternoon too. She is having a dark colour underneath and blonde on top and keeps asking if it will suit her. I can see it will be a nightmare because if she doesn't like it when she comes out she will go on and on about it until we can go back and get it put back how it was! Ive told her to leave it how it is but she won't listen!

    Have a good day everyone!

Good Morning Everyone:D (pg 2 already?? I cant keep up! - can you do a timed-posting so it can automatically be posted at 6am??! only kidding!)

Did come online last nite, but then DS woke up and in gettin him back to sleep - I fell asleep myself!
Have been let down by Freecyclers not turning up to collect stuff!
So maybe its a sign that I should try ebaying them? I now have bags of stuff and a cot sitting downstairs taking up room!

catowen - i made raspberry muffins yesterday (no white choccy though) - although I am trying to sort of diet - am I mad with this temptation???

kiwichick - I got a book holder in matalan last week in their sale it was only £2! I'd really like one of those metal ones, but the wooden one will suffice for now!

penpen - draw on the footy but Liverpool go through im told. Egg fried rice - thanks didnt think of that! DH has registered but hasnt posted yet - watch this space! better watch what i put now!

purpleprincess - dont beat yrself up about it - there are loads of people in this world who do have exams and believe me it they dont have an "ounce" of common sense! it doesnt make you a lesser person, chin up chookx
get out with Scuzz and those pilots that will make you feel better!

hester - terrible thing to happen to a friend (hugs) coming yr way

    Morning!

    Welcome Anniebooklover and Madmel!
    Welcome back Tinkerbelluk.
Hester - your poor DS, hugs to him. My big brothers best friend committed suicide at about 20 and I still think of him even though I really didn't know him very well and was very young. It can really affect you and those around you.
Purpleprincess - Big Hugs for you.
Penny Pincher - Prodigy!! Love it, still have it in the car - kids love it  You should hear DD (4) singing "S**** my b**** up" :o Call in Social Services now.....
Thriftmonster - funny you should mention halloween - was planning my pumpkins the other day - I love doing them and putting them on the doorstep. Think kids are old enough to trick or treat this year too, they will be so excited.

Well went home yesterday and was in a rotten mood, really seem to be gunning for DH at the moment and whilst he could do with bucking up a bit he doesn't quite deserve the full force of my wrath!! So I went out last night to see Brother and SIL, was much better when I got home but couldn't sleep at all so am rather tired today. DH made shepherds pie yesterday, was lovely.

Short day today as kids have the dentist, then home to finish baking for the ladies at Holiday Club, it's the last day tommorrow. Think I will take a days leave on Friday and clean my oven amongst other things and more importantly spend some time with the kids!!

    Breakfast: muesli
    Lunch: Left over shepherds pie
Dinner: Turkey and bacon tartlets with salad and fesh bread.

Unbelievable DH has just texted me to say he has left his lunch at home and his sub officer won't let him leave to get it (he's a fireman and we live a minute away from the station). What he hasn't said is he expects me to leave my office and whatever I'm doing and walk over the road (also live a minute away from my office), pick it up and drop it over to him!! He clearly wants me to offer but I'm afraid I'm not. Arghhhhh! Men.

    Have a lovely day all.

    Good Morning everyone,
It's my first time posting on the daily thread so hope you don't mind me joining in:D

Only have one child at home today as MIL has taken the terror toddler!!
So I'm gonna make good use of the time and make some cards, I might even have a go at some Christmas card ideas.

Just had some toast for Brekkie and will be having leftover Cottage pie for lunch and Macaroni Cheese and garlic bread for dinner. It will be the first time the boys will be trying Macaroni cheese and I'm not sure what they will make of it. They are so fussy when it comes to food and only seem to want the same junk over and over again. I'm fighting back tho' and I'm planning to make homemade chicken nuggets later in the week to see what they think.

    Anyway waffled enough

I'm waiting in all day today for the British Heart Foundation to come and take a dining table I never use. Hope they don't take too long because I am running low on milk.

Tonight I am cooking a salmon bake from the Victory cookbook.

It's payday on Friday which is much needed, I'm going to beat my revised savings target (hurrah!) ... ((((hugs)))) to Hester & DS ... Can't stop for now as I've got lots of w**k to do ... back later ... Rzl xx

    Good Morning everyone.
The predicted rain hasn't started yet here in Sunny South Yorkshire, so I've been doing some weeding in the front garden. We got some freebie topsoil a while ago, which unfortunately came with loads of freebie weeds and we haven't really stayed on top of it. We planted a row of Pyrocantha (or however they're spelled) to prevent next door's monster spawn from jumping off their conrete fence and landing in our freshly raked gravel, but the poor pyrocanthas are drowned by Dock & nettles. Sorry I wasn't very O.S. & threw the nettles in the compost bin instead of making soup.

Today's request.... can anyone summon up some motivation for me. I feel like slug woman today. I'm a primary teacher so I'm into the fifth week of my precious six week holiday. For two years I've been teaching "The Class of Hellborn Babes" that occur in a school ever so often and they've wiped me out. They finished off one teacher's whole teaching career a few years back. So I've struggled through, (one of them even had to be locked up in a secure unit - I say this to illustrate how bad its been)
The thing is, when the holidays started I kind of collapsed in a heap, and I feel like I've been in a heap ever since. I've pottered around and realised how much I have let go of in the past two years, my back garden, very small, but usually resplendent... a riot of colour at this time of year, is overgrown, the lawn a riot of dandelions, nettles everywhere, and the fruit plants so badly tended that they've produced nothing.
I have managed to have my grand declutter which feels soo-oo good, but I don't seem to be doing much in the space I created. Some rooms are clean(ish) but I don't get any urge to make them sparkle like I used to. My homemaking skills all lie idle, not a biscuit, cake or Tiramisu in the house. My big freeze (prepping the freezer for when I'm working) stopped at a double portion of Pork stroganoff.... and my son's taken to ordering take-aways every night after work (he gets home around 9:30 p.m. from his shift.)
I have a sackful of fleecey material, but the sewing machine is stuck in a cupboard.
I have endless amounts of real wool, 1940s patterns, but that box too lies untouched.
We haven't been to a Jive class this year, nor any 1940s events, our 1940s clothes need some dry cleaning but we aren't using them.
I have only read two books this summer, in fact that's my total for the year.
    HEEEEEEELLLLLLPPPPP!!!!
