I keep getting emails from ebuyer telling me it's free delivery this weekend
I keep informing them that it's not if you're in NI.
They keep giving me the usual crap back again.

(This has happened about 10 times in the last 12 months)

So I've lobbed off an email to trading standards asking them for their comments.

I get really pi**ed off with that too. Its hardly that hard to make 2 email offers one with free delivery and the other aka NI without. Using a database and check the postcode sorted now is that too hard to do.

I asked Kiddicare to explain their ridiculous surcharge (I worded it more politely than that!) , pointing out that it can't possibly be due to courier costs, since so many other companies can ship things without charging an extra £25 and this was the response.

' Thank you for your email. The delivery charge is the charge that the courier we use charges, it is set by the courier'.

I rather think that that does not answer the question which I actually asked!!

oh, and Kiddicare also says in bold red letters on its website that they don't deliver outside the UK, then proceeds to give delivery details for the Republic of Ireland. :rotfl:This is obviously no place for politics, but I'm pretty certain that there have been wars fought over less !

is babies r us on ur list? They count here as rural and so charge an extra £5 (which isnt too bad in reality, just a PITA)

I also work for a company where i sell on items for them, they charger me £5 more than everyone else in the mainland yet use royal bloody mail!

We are shipping 10KG of items to NI for £12.80 compared with £8.50 for mainland UK. This fairly reflects the costs to us via just about the cheapest (but still secure) method we can find for wholesale orders. For retail or rare lightweight WS orders, anything under 2kg can be sent via Royal Mail at same as UK mainland cost. I am amazed how many big-name suppliers are too inflexible to tailor the postal cost to the order.
  • It shows that some companies do care about custom rather then making tons of money over surcharges.

Machine Mart Nottingham charge £9.40 plus £10 extra to N.I. Not too bad maybe, but 10 days later item has still not arrived. Express Despatch were supposed to deliver it on Friday last, then today and now they say it will be tomorrow. £19.40 might have been acceptable if Express Despatch lived up to their name.

www.bidtv.co.uk and all their sister sites add £10 to postage costs for N.I. delivery although sometimes the savings can offset this.
