I bought the one from Amazon a few weeks back. Last week I accidentally washed it in the washing machine as my son had left it in his pocket. It still works fine!!

  • If your hard drives getting full, why not plug one into a spare USB socket to get a 2gig boost.

If it is an old computer surely it is doubtful whether it even has an USB port?!

    It has a USB port.
  • Hi all

Just following on from the this thread re the £11.79 flash drive from Amazon, if you order the ByteStor 1GB USB 2.0 High Speed Dataferry Flash Drive from Amazon as an alternative at £14.99 and select the super saver delivery, which is free, you will get your 1GB flash drive for exactly £14.99, which means you don't have to shop around on amazon to try and find something for £3 something to take your order over £15...and also it looks REALLY funky, AND it has a keyring loop!!! it's got great reiviews too!

    Hope this helps!

  • I just received my Samsung 2GB Pendrive from 7daycom. On plugging it in I get a window with a key icon that asks me to plug in the device, or run the utility as a priveliged user!
Surely this drive should be plug n play. It came with no packaging or instructions.
Anyone else having this problem?
  • Im notice some of these web site quote teh read and write speeds of USB pen drives.

Anyone know what speeds I should be looking for. I can seem to find a good one to make a comparison..

    Thanks.

Cheers. Had been looking for a usb flash drive for a while til I noticed your post. Ordered from Amazon priced at £15.09 on Sunday & it arrived this morning. It's small, thin, looks good, and most importantly has 2 loops. (I can tie the two together & perhaps postpone the inevitable loss of the albeit snug-fitting cap!)

Have downloaded portable firefox, open office, and even sudoku for those idle moments. It's so much faster than using my 1gb mp3 player which cost £130 just over a year ago!

So far so good. Thanks for posting Stelabelle.

Can anyone explain what the advantages are of a U3 drive, when you can download free portable apps so easily? Am I missing something?

Yes, same here You can't open the key program - it seems to be something left over from its setup.
    - just delete the key icon, the window it appears in is basically your flash drive, and you can add files and folders as you wish.
  • Thanks btk. 7day could not solve the problem, so I returned the drive for a refund. Still waitlng to hear from them though.

I've looked through and can't see anything on this so apologies if I've missed it...

Amazon now have a 1gb memory stick from Viking Interworks through their Markeplace for £9.68, plus the postage, which could be the downside, as it appears to be £4.50.
