Yes, I know. I'm just a bit puzzled why mymemory and 7dayshop 'appear' to operate in a different way.Stompa0 -

I'm a bit puzzled about the VAT though. It looks as though only items that cost more than £18 incur any VAT. So I could order many items each costing £17.99 (in a single order), and pay no VAT. Is that correct?
(This seems at odds with somewhere like 7dayshop, where the £18 limit seems to apply 'per consignment').
This is standard for businesses operating in the Channel Islands. You don't have to pay VAT on anything under £18 in value. Normally they work it so that you can order as many of these items as you like without VAT, by sending them in separate parcels. You might get multiple items per parcel, but each parcel will be under £18 in total, to keep the VAT off the package at customs.
This is excactly the same as the way 7dayshop works. I've ordered from them many time before, and are very good value for the under £18 items. It is amazing what you can get for under £18 too!!!! I also find the postage very good value considering that you might get each item sent as a separately packaged and stamped parcel (depending on the total value of your order). They do take a few days to arrive normally though (on standard postage).
Hope this helps

Ah OK thanks. I'd wrongly assumed that if they were to split an order into multiple packages, they'd also have to charge you multiple delivery charges (to cover their costs). But if you don't have to pay extra then that's great.Stompa0 -
These are well worth avoiding.
I was given some free at work. Out of three one fell out of it's case, one died with my backup on it and the last one is still OK.
There are some things that you shouldn't scrimp on and this is one of them. Buy a Corsair or a Kingston Data Traveller if you want reliability.:j Totally Debt Free!!:j0 -

I bought the 2GB drive from 7dayshop back in July, when it was still £25.99 (but still good value!). I also bought a neckstrap for it for £0.99 (clearance item).
What amused me was that to implement the VAT tax loophole on items less than £18 (see various other articles) they sent the neckstrap in a separate package! (with the total p&p remaining at £3.95)Titch0 -

You are completely right. I get all excited and want to buy buy and in 3months time you would get 2gb for the same price. I am going to share mine 1GB with a friend and get it now then we'll wait 6months and buy another one.“…the ‘insatiability doctrine – we spend money we don’t have, on things we don’t need, to make impressions that don’t last, on people we don’t care about.” Professor Tim Jackson
