I just want to plug it in and use to back up data & transfer to another computer. Which is the better one of the three below and why? They all are £12.99 and store 1GB.

Hi Guys, here is a 2gb stick (looks much nicer too for those of you who are fashion concious - or those of you who like to dangle memory around your necks - you know who you are)
its from misco, they do charge for delivery so it might be worth seeing if there is anything else you need to buy but for a 2gb stick £25.99 is amazing!

I would go for the buffalo one simply because it looks nicest and comes with a free usb extension cable!
memory is nearly identical no matter which manufacturer. Its usually just the shell its in that differs.

I bought two of these the other day, one for my photos when I want to get them processed & money backup and one for my daughter for her GCSE photography course.
I know they are only 512mb but thats fine for what we want and so cheap!
Sandisk is a reputable make of course and they look good too. Bargain!
£3.20 + £2.99 p & P.

Another, possibly better, 1 Gig pen drive can be had from MX2 (link below).
It's likely the kingston branded memory is faster, and is a well known brand.
P&P is only £1.95 and it usually arrives within a few days - if you order something and it's out of stock they phone and tell you how long it will be, and ask if you want to wait or take an alternative.
Altogether a first rate supplier of digital memory, I never buy anywhere else.

I've just bought a 1GB flash drive for £10.49 from 7dayshop.com, they also have 2GB for £17.99, postage is £3.95 but the fantastic savings you can make on their other products soon makes it worthwhile.
Delivery was fantastic too - just 2 days!

Dammit! I just bought a 512mb drive from Tesco for £16.97. What a rip. It's still in the packaging and I have the receipt, do you think they'll give me a refund?0

Just take it back & say that your partner already bought one from them without you knowing.
I think that they will give you the refund if it is sealed, have the original receipt & is less than 28 days old since purchase.
Good job that you did not buy from Dell- they charge £70 for a 512mb usb stick !!!!0 -

and now in laymen terms pls
your hard disk contains small disks called platters.. with a reading head (think like a record player arm) hovering really close to it...
hence moving parts..
solid state being no moving parts (think memory cards etc)
thus being better than moving parts coz its very rare shock (dropping it) will affect it. its not uncommon for the usb drives (solid state) surviving a wash cycle.... being left in pocket etc..
hope that helps..
i knew being an IT student would come in useful lol0 -
Pen drives and other solid state memory devices really don't respond well ie. they lose data etc when presented with a strong RF ( Radio Frequency ) field .
So don't keep it in your pocket with your mobile phone or anywhere there is radio frequency transmission.qui tacet consentire -
