If your running a business you'd need to factor in your packaging somewhere or your not going to be getting your tax returns correct?
I spend a good £15 a time bulk buying my postal bags not to mention sellotape/parcel tape and bubble wrap costs. Take into acount invoice/label printing, stickers for return address. I think my 37p packaging charge is pretty reasonable and i'd hate to be loosing these extra pennies everytime i made a sale, you need to factor them in somewhere.0 -

A business though is not losing money?
I sell far too much to account for profit on each individual item, I merely keep basic accounts, money in, all expenses including packing and post actually paid, and the net figure is my taxable profit.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. in that case your packaging comes out of your profits, i'm just saying it has to be accounted for somewhere be it in the starting price or p & p price it will come off somewhere in the sale.
you can't just say oh it's only 10p i won't bother putting it in my excel sheet. i don't mean idividually of course just that it needs to be accounted for. maybe i'm not making much sense though

Another possibility is people who start out with a baseline of 3 or 4 stars, only going up to 5 if you REALLY impress them.
All parcels are sent in brand new jiffy bags which have brown parcel tape around all edges to ensure security of the item and item is marked as 'please do not bend'forgotmyname wrote: »Too slow to post?
Its half an hour since the auction ended and i paid instantly why have i not received my item yet?
My auctions finish on a Sunday night and the items are posted on the Monday (following receipt of payment) if payment is not made on the Sunday then the item is posted the day receipt of payment is made (providing it is made before 17:30 hours) otherwise it is the next day. My terms and conditions are 'item will be posted within 3 working days from receipt of payment'
So.....why on earth have I got 4.8 DSR on my p&p taking the above into account and the fact it is free p&p??? I believe I am offering a darn good service!0 -
Then it probably is just people setting 3 or 4 as their baseline, thinking they're marking you well by giving you a four. Or possibility someone has had a bit of a delay through no fault of yours.I'm not bad at golf, I just get better value for money when I take more shots!0

4.8 seems to be a fairly normal standard on p and p, it is rare you find someone maintaining any higher, although some do of course. I have absolutely no hesitation at all in buying from a seller on 4.8.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. to be honest my business account is 4.8 for p&p and my personal acc is 4.6 bordering 4.7 (i'm trying to get it up!) i charge exactly the same on both accounts actual postage plus 37p packaging. The only difference being is i sell mainly brand new items on business and second hand personal stuff on the other so perhaps it's the quality/condition of things that affect all stars not just p&p? i know it shouldn't but maybe people just leave the same stars for everything, just a thought.
i think your doing ok on 4.8 a bit annoying as your not charging anything i'd leave a 5 as long as it got to me in one piece. it only takes 1 bad apple to give you a knock though!
it doesn't help when buyers don't bother to leave fb i've had tons not bother even though i've left it for them i do think buyers are much quicker to leave fb if they aren't happy with something than when they are satisfied with their purchase.0 -

Strangely enough I have the same experience. My business one goes between 4.9 - 5 (I nearly fell over when I saw the 5*) yet my private sticks mainly to 4.8. My policy with post and packing is the same on both, so realistically my stars should be the same. I wonder if they make more allowances on a business account and just leave 5* as standard? Obviously the stuff is different, but the packaging, all the packing slips and everything else is exactly the same.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
