Glad to hear it El...phew a bit of weight off your mind there. xBlackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

Great news about the doors and windows, as well as your doctors appointment.

the car ... well after long internet searches etc it appears that what is wrong with the car is a very common problem ... so common in fact that renault pay 75% of the cost of repair .... so instead of it costing us £260 plus vat plus fitting plus vat ... or the cheaper version of £130 plus fitting we contacted the local renault garage and will get it fixed for between £80 and £90 so the car will be going in on wednesday ... it was last fixed literally 3 years ago the part shouldve lasted longer than that i think ...
nothing else happening on the insurance front ... but hubby and i have talked and we are going to go to florida next year ... m.i.l has kindly offered to pay for our villa so we just need to find flights (£610 each) spending money and car hire ... so the flights got booked and straight away transferred to the 0% balance transfer visa card so i have till next march to find the money .... yes we will have to find car hire for two weeks (roughly £300 a week) and spending money but as it is just hubby and i going this time (no son) we wont be going to all the parks just the ones we want to go to and we will be spending more days in the villa not eating out etc .... so i reckon we will need roughly £2.5k spending money (maybe less if i do it the m.s.e way) so saving and getting money has became a new game for us to try cause i dont want to come back from our holiday with debt ... i am aiming to get out of debt ..but we both feel that we need a break after everything we have had to deal with recently0 -
Good for you el, and I can certainly relate to having something to look forward to after a crap time.
Work out as much as you can about what you will need, and then break it down into mini challenges over the next few months - you will soon have the cash you need to have a fab time xSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. Great minds must think alike hypno ... I was pondering similar things myself... And in doing it that way I should have a much more realistic idea of how much we will need instead of the ball park figure of £2.5 k
Will be sitting down later with pen and paper going through everything including debt repayments so that we will know exactly where we stand so that we can work out a plan of action0 -
good decisions to take the offer of the holiday, OH and i would love to go overseas next year but i wasn't to pay of debt more, but then thats not fair on OH, but on the other hand we'd also like to move next year so we should really put the emphasis onto that.0

it's such a hard balancing act isnt it lemon? you want to pay off the debt and have a better lifestyle but you need a break because you work so darned hard at things and need something to aim for and make it seem worth while ...
well i went to the dr's i have to be referred to the hospital again... thankfully this time he doesnt suspect pre cancer cells but i seem to have an enlarged womb (oh er mrs) so he thinks i might have fibroids or polyps ... guess what i'm just about to google lol0 -
ok park tickets for next year £786 for both hubby and myself ...phew that is alot car hire is going to be roughly £200 a week so £600 mmm lets tabulate this
flights £1220
tickets £786
car hire £600 (roughly)
food £250 (not eating out)
eating out £300 (i'm thinking no more than twice a week ... but this might have to change)
spending money £1500 (£500 a week... not sure if this is enough)
parking £200 ( $12 a day what a rip off)
entertainment not too sure about this one
have i forgotten anything for florida?
then there is the w.h.w
b&b £500 (calculating it at £70 a night for both hubby and myself)
food £ 300 ( we are going oop north)
spending £250 (roughly ... for boots etc)
all of that has to be added to the debt which stands at
m.i.l £3,000
son £750
visa £2,700 now (0% though)
mmm thinking caps on i think0 -
