I'd just say stuff guys and relax and have a good time in my own DFW way, then when the right bloke comes along, he really will be the right bloke ;)

You'd be suprised where good guys show up.

I'm not saying that dating sites are all bad, but personally I think you're more likely to find people looking for a 'date' rather than something long term.

If you just have your own interests and just have fun, then any guys you meet are more likely to share those interests - if I'm making any sense.

Well, kind of. But right now I'm feeling pretty bleuch and just want to get back on the horse for a bit, to stop me feeling like I'll be alone forevvvverrrrrr.....

Sorry to hear that Emmzi (hugs!!). If you've only been single for 5 minutes, perhaps you are too vulnerable to jump right back on the horse at this moment. You wont be single forever, and this may come across when meeting these dates, try and enjoy your time being single, it may make your DFW journey easier (dating can be expensive!!).

Am i the only person who is skeptical about online dating sites? Anyone had any experience with them, good or bad??
Yup. Met my partner on one. We've been together more than 2 years, and are trying to buy a house together (well. trying to find the money for a deposit anyway!). I love him more than words can say and he is wonderful - although I was v sceptical to start with and only signed up as an ego boost after a bad breakup!
Emmzi, feel free to pm me if you want any advice.xxx

Hi hun, I would wait a while, but when you feel ready why not try speed-dating. My b/f mate went along and met a lovely girl there and they've now been together for 6 months.

I think meeting a decent guy in pubs/clubs etc is well gone. Us girls are all too independent now and know what we want. :T

Try it or at least look into it. Go with a mate though coz it could be a little embarrassing. :o

Good Luck (a wealthy one would be good, hey, you never know) :T

I can only report on my experience of dating agenices and it was a total waste of money. The other memebrs I met on it felt the same. It was a while ago and I totally regret it- it was meant to be selective etc but they just took £360 for doing nothing and there was not enough members or anyone near suiting my profile ( not something they tell you before hand).
Funnily enough I was spending all this money on a dating agency and my future b/friend was right under my nose ( we have been together 6 years now )! So sometimes they are just there and you dont know.
To be honest you are probably better taking a break and using this time to find you. Nothing attracts a GOOD partner like a self confident person who knows who they are .Good luck .

loopylove.com is free - you earn points from receiving emails and clicking links - then you use those points to view messages.

I signed up ages ago but haven't chatted at all yet - but I do get lots of emails saying people like SEXYRICHBLOKE :rotfl: have sent me a message.

There's no harm in signing up for a few of these sites. You can just chat to a few - you don't have to meet up with anyone straight away. If you see there are plenty of single men in your age group - that in itself could help you feel more positive about the future.

I found my OH on one of the speed dating sites... Saw him in his kilt, sent him a "whisper" and met him next day for lunch and with any luck we're getting married next summer :) Yes they CAN work :) Just be careful and always think about your own safety :)

If I was suddenly single again now I would try speed dating as it looks like it could be so much fun! No committment or anything either....brilliant.

But I also think spending time alone & catching up with mates or making new friends and not looking for a bloke is the best way. As I used to say to myself "If walk around with my eyes shut for long enough I am going to bump into a good lamp post sooner or later...." :D

I met my husband on the channel four dating site. We now have a 1 and a half year old and are very happy! It can be done. My golden rule is that if you're interested in someone, go on a date quickly to find out if you're compatible, if there's a spark. It's the spark that's important; there are any number of nice chaps out there to chat to, but you need to find out quickly if they're a potential OH, or just a mate.

I was so lucky, I only went on three dates before finding my husband. My best friend has also found her husband on match.com. And we're both now Mrs Smith!
