Very tired today, I'm finding it hard to get off to sleep at the moment :( Dropped off in the car on the way to work (carshare driving today!) and slept for about 40 minutes, but I felt groggy and sick when I woke up. I get terrible carsickness, so I normally try and avoid sleeping in the car, but I just couldn't stay awake. Good thing I had no time for breakfast, or it would have been bad!
Am currently drinking my 6th cup of tea and eating my emergency Twix, hopefully the sugar will perk me up a bit.

Feeling a bit down about RBS withdrawing the balance transfer offer. They were fast enough to offer it when there was £1200 on the card, cheeky b*ggers! We'll still have finished cleared the card we wanted to BT in a few months time, but I was hoping to be able to cut down on the interest bill a bit, since we're currently paying about £200 a month in interest  it would have cut several months off our DFD.

Hi Jules, sorry I havent popped in for so long!

I am sorry to hear about RBS, it's so annoying when you feel you are doing the right thing for the offer to then be taken away :(. Maybe they will change their minds again soon?

What do you think is stopping you from sleeping? Have you got all of this and the race on your mind? It's not for everyone but when I went through a few months of not sleeping a couple of years back I used the night nurse capsules, they were absolutely fantastic and I don't think I could have survived without them. They didn't make me groggy but just pleasantly relaxed enough to drop off at night.

I hope you manage to get some sleep tonight :)

    Hey,

Congrats on the run! Great achievement :D Bet you felt fab once you had finished it.

Inflatable hot tub sounded fun - sadly new home doesn't have a big enough gardent to fit one in....damn :rotfl:

Sorry you have not been sleeping, I hope you managed a decent one last night. I struggle too, normally because I am thinking of everything and anything, sometimes I take a herbal nytol an hour before I go to bed to relax - it seems to work. Or like JTR said a night nurse - even if only for a couple of nights to get back into a routine of some sort perhaps?

I'm not a big fan of RBS, they are a nightmare unless it is something that benefits them. I hope they call up with an offer soon - i'd try calling again in perhaps a month or so if they haven't and ask if they can do anything - they'll want your money somehow!

Hope you didn't fall asleep in car today ;) x

Still tired this morning, but not as bad. Good thing cos I was driving this morning, definitely didn't want to fall asleep at the wheel!

The sleeping problem is being caused by DH, who is a bit of a night owl, pesky husband! His alarm doesn't even go off until I've left for work, so he tends to stay up much later than me. I go to bed before him, and normally I sleep through him coming to bed, but the last couple of weeks I've either not been able to settle to sleep before he comes in, or I wake up with a start and then can't get back to sleep. And then there's the snoring....

I think I just need to get in the right frame of mind before I go to bed, will have to start having baths in the evening again. Bit of a pain, as the mixer tap on our bath/shower is stuck on warm. OK for a shower, but a bit too cold for a bath, so I have to top the bath up with kettles, and jugs of water from the hot tap!

Anyway, both these problems will be sorted when we move, as I'll no longer need to leave at 710am, more like 8ish to get here at the same time! And hopefully the next place we rent will have a better bath! I did some calculations yesterday and worked out that our petrol bill will drop from about £400 a month to £260ish after we move. Roll on August so I can start looking!

That is a fantastic drop in your petrol bill - what an incentive to move - plus the extra time at home

I am exhausted today. Really cannot get moving!

    That petrol saving is huge!!

I can sympathise on the OH being a nightowl, mine takes ages to come to bed and I can't sleep properly until he is so I end up staying awake till almnost 1am, then to make it worse - he falls asleep within 2 minutes and I'm still awake

The bath sounds like a PITA, just think of all the long wonderful baths you can have when you move!

Unfortunately I'm also a nightowl rather than an earlybird, but in order to get up at 630 everyday, I have to go to bed pretty early (well, earlier than my brain wants to at least!). I try and get to sleep by 11, but it's been 1130-12 for the last couple of weeks despite going to bed at my normal time!

I normally manage to catch up at the weekend, but I resent wasting precious weekend time on sleeping! Bound to sleep well on Friday night after the race (and the beers ). We're camping on site overnight though, so will be up with the dawn. :j Love camping :D

    Morning diary
Well today is our 4th wedding anniversary! :) I can't believe it's been that long, although the last 4 years have been a bit action packed! Since June 2006, three of my four sisters have got married, and sister no 4 has produced 2 nieces! We've moved house twice. I left my PhD, worked as a temp here for 2 years and have now been permanent for almost 18 months. DH's brothers have both graduated from uni, one with a Masters as well as a BA and moved out of home and stepsister has taken GCSEs and A-Levels and is currently off on a gap year. It's been a busy old time in our extended family! It still doesn't quite feel like 4 years though.

According to Google the following are 4th anniversary gifts:
    Traditional: books, flowers and fruit.
    Modern: electrical applicances
    Flowers: Geraniums
    Gemstone: Amethyst and Topaz

I'm hoping DH has skipped the electrical applicances and geraniums and gone straight for the amethysts! ;) I ignored the list above (flowers/fruit not an inspiring choice for boys!) and went for a bottle of his favourite single malt whiskey, since he's been moaning about only having blended whiskeys since Easter.

Happy Anniversary :D Sounds like you have had a mega busy four years, amazing how the time goes by! Hope the amethysts come your way ;)

Very jealous you're getting to camp this weekend, I LOVE camping too and try and get away as much as possible but with this money saving lark not done much of late :( Hoping for a big one in July with a few of us getting together so that should be fun.

So frustrating when your sleeping pattern is upset. I've had it this week as OH has been on late shifts so in at 1/2am for past three days. I always wake up and then can't get back off, not good on broken/no sleep either!

Enough waffling from me! Hope you have a fab anniversary day :D x

Lovely evening, Chinese takeaway and a long chat about when we move & houses etc. DH gave me some money to get my hair cur, hasn't been done for over a year!
Just finished packing the car for tomorrow's camping. We're only staying for one night, and it's at my works sport field, so not proper camping!

will hopefully be going for a long weekend in Dorset in a few weeks though :) our friend has a beach hut on a national trust beach with an amazing campsite nearby. beach, books, bbqs, bliss!

Sounds like you had a great anniversary!

The Dorset trip sounds great, don't think I've ever been down that way but I have heard it's very peaceful :)

Have fun with the camping tonight :j
