So sorry to hear about your Grandma Jules. Don't beat yourself up about having a takeaway, sometimes it's best to forget about diets and just get back on track when you feel up to it xx

Thanks becs, I'm feeling a bit better now, had a chat and a little cry with my friend (hiding in one of the instrument rooms off the main lab so no one would see us! :rotfl:) and also entered my food for yesterday into food focus and realised that I only went about 400 calories over my target, which is still 600 less than my daily requirements, so it really wasn't the end of the world, I was just in a state :o

So sorry to hear about your Grandma Jules. A good cry is probably just what you needed right now.

Thinking of you, take care xx

Thanks again guys, I'm feeling a bit better today. Nannie is still hanging on, but they're keeping her pain free and waiting for the end. TBH she's 86, has alzheimer's, cataracts and cancer, so I sort of feel that this is her time, iyswim, especially as she's not been very happy in her care home. :(

not much else to report today, heading home for the day tomorrow, to babysit nieces. Unsure whether boys trip on Saturday is going ahead, but I know my aunt will be tired, as they went to Yorkshire and back in a day yesterday, so she'll need help with the girls (sister no 2 is working all day).
will write a list of wool for the things I'm planning to make and decide if I can afford them this month or not. If I have to wait until next month I'll be pushed for time to get things finished for niece no1 and nephew no1's birthdays in early October. :o

I'd love to see some pics of your knitting projects when they're finished Jules. I'm a hopeless knitter but have always wanted to be able to do it. Someone at work has promised to teach me how to crochet so maybe I'll be better at that :)

I'll try and put some pics up when I've finished my most recent projects. Did go to knitting shop and ended up spending over £100. That does sort out both nieces and both nephews for christmas, plus 2 things for sister no2's baby due in January. Just waiting for scan today to check it's not twins (as they run in our family) or triplets (as her hubby keeps insisting :rotfl:).

Spent the weekend at home with my family, which I really needed. All 5 of us were at home on Saturday, while our husbands were out on their boys day, and I think we all just wanted to be home. My Nannie died yesterday afternoon, after lapsing into a coma on Friday. :( Not unexpected of course, and the hospital staff were fantastic, she was very well cared for and not in any pain for the last few days.

just waiting to hear when the funeral will be so we can make arrangements to go up. I'm going to have to brave seeing my dad, but I won't let him keep me away.

nothing to report really, just checking in :) We're off for a long weekend of camping in Dorset from Thursday, and we're heading down to the Hamble tomorrow night to break the journey at FIL's flat there. We'll be travelling back on Sunday, work on Monday, and then Tuesday is the funeral. Will probably do it in one day, but WAH on wednesday in case my back is really bad after the car journeys.

will try to have an MSE weekend, I picked up a camping bucket BBQ at sainsbury's last night, so we'll probably eat at the campsite on 2 nights, and we always take sarnies to the beach etc, so shouldn't end up being too expensive. This weekend, and another one in August are our holiday for the year though, so won't worry too much if we end up eating out a few times more than planned. :o

    Afternoon diary :)
Got back from camping yesterday, I am knackered :) Had a lovely weekend, two near perfect days at the beach, and 2 days with a bit of rain, but we found things to do. I looove camping, I feel so relaxed now. Sadly our airbed gave up overnight on the first night, so had to resort to the emergency rollmats, but still slept like a log, even through all the wind and rain on Friday. Definitely need to replace it before we go again in August though, as sleeping on the floor made DH very grumpy! :rotfl:

Off to yorkshire for my nannie's funeral tomorrow, been trying not to think about it too much. Have an ongoing fb chat with my cousins where we've been sharing our favourite memories, and it's made me laugh as much as cry as my nannie was so funny sometimes. Hopefully it won't be too sad an occasion tomorrow, I don't think she'd have wanted that. Just a gathering of all her family, 3 kids, 10 grandchildren and now 10 great-grandchildren and one more one the way (although number 10 was born yesterday morning, so they're not coming), plus step-daughter from her second marriage, her daughter, and three grandchildren, there's an awful lot of us, and this is the small side of my family :rotfl:

    Hey Jules,

I'm very sorry to hear of your loss. I hope today goes well (as well as these things can if you get what I mean?) and your nannie has the send off that she deserves. Will be thinking of you, take care xx

thanks Choc, that was really kind of you :) it was a lovely service, and although we were all sad we had lots of laughs together about all the funny things Nannie used to do. She had phrases for every occasion, I once heard her tell my step-grandad that he was "as much use as a ha'penny worth of cheese" :rotfl: another favourite is "we might not have much money, but we do see life" it was lovely to hear everyone else's memories.

also got to see all my cousins from this side of the family, and an aunt and uncle from the other side who I wasn't expecting to see, i'd forgotten my aunties were friends at school! best of all got to see my brother and baby nephew :smileyhea he's so massive, he's only 4.5 months, but he's the same size as my other nephew who's 9 months! he's obviously going to take after his dad (6'7"!!!!!) That's the weird thing about funerals, once you've got to the wake, it's all about socialising with people you normally only see a few times a year.

did also have to see my dad, but just stayed in a group with all my sisters (who are really my cousins, due to me moving in with my aunt and uncle when I was 18) and didn't have to speak to him or his new wife at all. quite a relief. DH was amazing yesterday, he did all the driving (7 hours in total) and spent the whole day looking after me, I'm very lucky :o will have to make him something special for tea tonight
