I have mozied on through your diary over the last couple of days. What a ride! Glad you found somewhere closer to your work 1.5 hours each way is:eek::eek::eek:

Sorry to hear about your back. I can empathise a bit having just been told I have arthritis in my spine (sigh) so am now exercising as much as I can fit in so that i have strong back muscles. I have wondered about pilates and you seem to think it has helped so I may add that to my exercise mix!!!

Good luck with continued debt busting

    Hi chev :)
Pilates is definitely the thing for strong back muscles, I've only been doing it for about 6 weeks, but I really feel like it's making a difference. Or it was until I went away for work and spent 4 days sitting in cars, planes, at the conference etc etc! Also doesn't help that neice no1 decided she wanted a piggy back on Sunday and lept onto my back from the patio. She's 3 (and a half, very important! :p) and landed with her knees right in the small of my back where it's sore

In other news, one of my fillings broke last night  it's been dodgy for ages, but I have to admit I was hoping it would hold out for free dental treatment when I got pregnant :o as I know it needs a crown, which is £200!! No help for it now though, so will ring around dentists this morning and see if I can find an NHS dentist who'll see me. My previous dentists is in Hertfordshire, so would be a bit of a trek, but I'll go there if I can't get registered here. In the mean time will have to only eat soft foods and chew carefully, luckily it doesn't hurt so far :(

Well I've managed to find a dentist, so I'm going tomorrow morning  I have an absolute phobia of the dentist, after having a filling done a few years ago where my tooth wasn't numbed properly. Just the thought of having any work done makes me feel sick, and I start shaking uncontrollably and crying the second they try and numb me up! Feeling very on edge now :(

Dentist this morning, I need 2 crowns doing _pale_ going back next week for the first step. No other work though, which is good, I knew both of the teeth that needed crowns would need them at some point, so having them both done at the same time as only have to pay once. Stil £204 though, so expensive!

not much else to report here, besides eating my lunch and chewing very carefully :rotfl:

    Morning Diary :)
nothing exciting to report, so not been on for a few days. It's still 6 days until payday, but all bills paid and plenty of food in the cupboards, so everything's just ticking over. Am going shopping after work with a friend, but I've already decided that the only thing I need is some summer shoes. I've already seen the ones I want in Debenhams for only £18 so if they don't have them I'll order online.

Busy weekend of household jobs ahead, need to do a bit of cleaning/tidying in the house and go to the garden centre on Saturday, and then best friend is coming over for dinner and board games, can't wait :D

On Sunday we're going to sort out the garden. I want to get it all cleared and the borders planted up with shrubs. I've got some webbing to put down before we plant, so we can cover it with bark chippings to reduce weeding! Have also got some veggie seeds to plant, and I want to get some pots and bedding plants for colour on the patio :)

still trying to ignore the rising terror of having to go to the dentists again next week, just thinking about it makes me feel sick :( still, the tooth which cracked on monday is really desperate, and I knew it would have to be crowned at some point :o

hope everyone else has a nice weekend :T

    Afternoon diary :)
Busy busy weekend, I'm knackered! Went shopping with friend after work on Friday, but didn't actually buy anything as they didn't have the shoes I wanted in my size (curse my enormous feet!). Did take advantage of the really cheap petrol station on the way home though, 5p/litre cheaper than our normal one :D

Saturday we went to the garden centre and bought all the supplies to do our garden. There was nothing worth saving in the borders etc, so we're really starting from scratch. Got everything we needed for £160, and we shouldn't have to spend anything else this year, and the plants we've bought for the borders are all hardy, so we shouldn't have to spend much in future years to keep them looking nice. I'm hoping that counts as moneysaving

It took us 4 hours on Sunday to weed and prepare the borders for planting, I got really sunburnt as forgot to put any suncream on :o Covered the border with weed control fabric and planted out our shrubs and ground cover plants, and then covered it all with bark mulch, so now it looks really smart and tidy :T
    We also
    • planted up some pots for the patio with bedding plants
    • potted up my veg seeds (broad beans, courgettes, cobnut squash and peppers! :D) to start them growing
    • planted up a trough of herbs, a pot of rocket and a blueberry bush for the patio,
    • sprayed all the weeds on the gravel drive and paths with weedkiller,
    • and treated the lawn with a weed and feed product to try and improve it
no wonder I was knackered on Sunday night! Especially as we were up until 2am playing boardgames and drinking with friends the night before!

All we have left to do now is dig out my vegetable bed, clear the drive and paths of weeds, and mow the lawn and tidy up the edges and it should all be fairly low maintenance.

Sadly all that work really upset my back, although I was very careful not to lift anything, and had regular breaks from weeding. I had an horrible spasm while brushing my teeth yesterday morning and ended up having the day off sick, as there was no way I could drive to work, or even stand up straight for most of the morning :(

Back at work today, but we're packing up our lab as it's being refurbished starting next week, but I can't help with any of the packing as I still really can't bend/lift anything  My resource leader wants me to see occupational health about my back as I've been off sick so many times now. Don't know what they're going to do about it though!

    Hello Diary :)
Can't believe it's been so long since I posted, or that i'm back at work already, boo! :( The last 2 weeks have just whizzed past! Had a lovely break, lots of time spent with family and friends, good times :D May have slightly overspent, but not much more than we budgetted, so not too bad. I finally managed to find some shoes for the summer, and also got a couple more summery dresses, so I shouldn't need to spend much more on clothes until the autumn, maybe a few t-shirts.

Back to work yesterday, and straight into a training course, big yawns :o Just over 2 weeks to go until payday, and the freezer is full, so not much to spend on shopping, hoping to be very frugal next month to make up for this month's excesses.

    Morning Diary :)
Thank f*** it's Friday, this has been the longest 4 day week ever! :rotfl: So so busy at work, a colleague is away on hols until 23rd May (lucky git!) and I've had to pick up a lot of his workload so am going to be a bit manic for the next few weeks.

Hoping to do some constructive relaxing over the weekend, although I want to go to homebase (15% off weekend) to get the last bits for our garden, and something to mend the bare patches in the lawn! Hopefully we're going to get some rain for the first time in about 6 weeks over the weekend, so that should perk up the rest of the lawn so we can see what's dead, and what's just really dry! A friend at work gave me some tomato plants on Tuesday, so need to get them planted into their growbags soon. May wait a few more weeks, as I'm bringing them in at night. all my seeds have sprouted now, very exciting! :D

We also need to go to IKEA, as my £10 hanging rail from Tesco has given up the ghost after only 3 months  It's currently propped up against the wall, but I expect it will collapse completely the next time I have to take something off it!

Have found a sturdy looking cheap canvas wardrobe at IKEA for about £30 though, so will go and get that (and maybe some meatballs for the freezer, mmmm!) and then we're going to have to rearrange the spare rooms. We need to swap the bookcase and new wardrobe, as the reason for the hanging rail originally was that we needed to move it out of the way to unfold the sofa bed.

Would like to buy a proper wardrobe really, but we've agreed we should wait until we buy somewhere we intend to stay in for a while before getting proper bedroom furniture, in case it doesn't fit when we move! :o
