Cars are such a money pit! I dread to think how much mine has cost in the last few years but it's essential for work...boo-hiss

Sounds like you got lots with your vouchers! I so could have bought loads in the sales but as I want to lose weight there is no point. I have promised myself a little Jane Norman shopping spree if I lose enough, at the moment I can't fit into their biggest size so it's a good incentive.

Hope the appraisal goes well on Thursday, I had a little chat with my boss about this years bonus today as they have changed our targets too but I hopefully wont be any worse off, unless the company does awfully, in which case we will all be in serious trouble anyway!

    Hello Diary :)

So, to-do list for this week:
    • Ring MBNA and find out why they haven't marked my closed credit card as "settled" on my credit report
    • [STRIKE]Make sure DH gets passport sorted out this week, as he's off for a boys skiing weekend in March (courtesy of his Dad so free!)[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]catch up on laundry [/STRIKE]and housework - make DH do anything that involves bending to avoid more back spasms! 2 loads of laundry done
    • put last 3 boxes up in loft so we're officially unpacked ;)
    • sort out last picture frames and put them up
    • eat healthily, and try to go for lunchtime walks
    • [STRIKE] look for swimming costume so can start going twice a week [/STRIKE] found one at Bravissimo for £38 , only one under £50 with integral bra. Will order (via Quidco for 10% cashback!) on payday
    • finish niece no2's birthday cardie, and start knitting for brother's baby due in Feb
    • take focus to garage on Thursday
    • look for car insurance quotes for the Ka: aim < £275!
    • send off Ka logbook to change address, and get forms for new driving license as picture expired in October (oops!)
    • chase up GPs about referral

Hmmm, not much progress yesterday! Was planning to go for a walk, but it's pouring with rain outside :(

    * I have a comedy swimming story to share with you guys, not sure if I already posted it, but it made me chuckle when I remembered it so I thought I'd share it! I have a bandeau-style swimming costume from our honeymoon, and I couldn't find my normal sports one, so had to wear it when we went swimming last. While we were swimming, I pushed off from the end a bit enthusiastically, and the force of the water pushed my costume down and my boobs popped out  Luckily there was no one swimming towards me, so I think I got away with it, but DH was in hysterics while trying to shield me from view :rotfl: This is why I need a new proper big-boobs one, or I have to swim really sedately and pull my costume up at the end of every length!

I think that story warrants a new swimming costume at whatever cost :rotfl:

    Afternoon Diary :)

Had my PDP this morning, and have been graded a 3+, which i'm pretty pleased with:j
Our new rating scale is a bit odd, as 3 is really good, not average (even though it's out of 5). 3 means that you've done your core job well, exhibited correct behaviourds and met all 4 of your targets. I can't imagine how anyone could ever get a 5, as I met all my targets and exceeded one of them, and I still didn't get into box 4! Still very pleased, and should be in line for ~3-4% payrise in April (first one for 4 years :T) and a decent bonus with that rating.

Took the car to the garage before work, still waiting to hear what the damage will be! _pale_

Just waiting to pick up the car, not too bad in the end only £260 to repair the radiator and £60 for new aerial. Was imagining it coming out at over £500.
They did make some recommendations about some other work though, oil needs topping up, which I can do myself, and brake fluid needs changing, but it can wait til the service in April.

    Morning Diary :)
Won't be about much today, as have to go on a work "consumer experience" which are supposed to help us understand the needs of our consumers better. We all had to draw a ticket back in October, and I "won" a Masterchef challenge, so this morning we're off to the local Asda to buy ingredients for a lunch in 3 teams. One team has to use our products, one team Asda's products and one team fresh ingredients, and we all have to make the same meal. Should be ok, but I do have actual work that I should be getting on with today! :o It's compulsory though, so have to make the best of it. At least I didn't get the experience about washing clothes by hand by the river :rotfl:

Quiet weekend planned, still 1 week to payday for me, and 10 days for DH. Plus DH and I are both feeling under the weather. Nothing specific, just a bit run down. Best friend coming for tea and boardgames on saturday, but have already decided what to make and it's low effort from me. May have to go to MK on Sunday as DH needs new salopettes for skiing next month, but that's not too much of a hassle, as will give me a chance to try on my new swimming costume at the Bravissimo shop to make sure I order the right size.

Was very nice to drive to work this morning with a working radio and not worry that the engine was about to set on fire :T
