Afternoon Diary
Not much to report today, payday tomorrow :j Going out for dinner on Saturday with best friend, our first proper night out in town since we moved here. We're trying a local Italian with a good reputation so hoping for some yummy food, and lots of vino
Things to do this weekend:
go to Homebase to try and sort out the delivery of our shed (ordered end september!) so we can get the garden stuff out of the dining room. Nightmare, as homebase only seem to employ complete morons.
speak to neighbours about garden fence (blown down in the wind last week, landlord says it's not our responsibility)
put up pictures in hall and stairs (lovely snapfish prints, thanks Jody), and new mirror in bathroom.
Take old bathroom cabinet and shelf to the tip
Do proper clean throughout the house, including mopping all laminates downstairs. (haven't done since we moved in, despite buying a special mop! :rotfl:)
Sort out the last few boxes for loft/tip as appropriate.
Change bedding and get up to date on laundry. Ignore ironing
go to milton keynes to:
get snow+rock vouchers for BIL birthday and christmas (he's going out to Verbier to work for the ski season)
Find 30th pressie for sister no2 (no ideas at all atm ), birthday pressie for aunt and start to think about other family christmas pressies
choose new going out shoes as christmas pressie from DH
I feel exhausted just thinking about that lot :rotfl:Need to be productive though as been away for the last 2 weekends so house not looking at it's best. I've obviously turned over a new leaf wrt housework though, as it's actually bothering me!Little monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160 -
Wine is essential with Italian food, so enjoy lots of it
Wow to your brother doing a ski season in Verbier, that is a very good Christmas present.
Good luck with Homebase and with talking to your neighbours - do you get on ok with them?LBM Aug 09: £18,650.47 - Current: £12,854.93 (£5946.79)

We've met the neighbours briefly when their son kicked his ball in our garden (6 times in one afternoon :rotfl:), but that's it. Didn't actually introduce ourselves though, so I don't know their names or anything! Will have to pop round, but they don't seem to have been in much this week.
Homebase have finally rung me back, they've lost my paperwork and need to speak to Head Office, which they can't do until Monday apparently. I'm so annoyed about the whole situation, it was their fault that we didn't pay for home delivery when we ordered it, they said it would fit in our car - blatantly untrue, it wouldn't even fit in a volvo estate or a landrover and we've only got a focus! So I went in, paid the extra for delivery and that was about 3 weeks ago, not heard anything since!
BIL no 2 trained as a ski instructor during his gap year, and has spent the last 2 years trying to get work during the ski seasons. Massive traumas with his visa for america the last 2 years, despite getting jobs lined up in Colarado fairly easily, so he's now doing December-March in Europe and then he and his girlfriend are going to NZ for a year, and planning to work the ski season there. We figured he'll need more ski stuff before he goes, so makes for a very easy present, vouchers + some ski socks so he's got something to unwrap!Little monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160 -
Surely head office are open this afternoon and tomorrow, why the wait???
Is his girlfriend going to do the season in Verbier as well? Did he not get out to America then?LBM Aug 09: £18,650.47 - Current: £12,854.93 (£5946.79)

That's what i said! Apparently only the manager can chase it up, and he's away until monday. We're now considering just going in with our copy of the paperwork and carrying the blimmin thing home (it's only 5 mins away from our house) especially as the weather forecast is ok for the weekend, so we could get it stained and put together.
Poor BIL had such a saga with trying to get into America, 2 years ago he got a job, then applied for a visa, told they'd run out of that kind, and to apply for a different kind, which was granted (stapled into passport) and then withdrawn, so stamped "Cancelled without prejudice". By this time they'd decided just to go for a 4 week holiday rather than work so flew out on tourist visa, customs official saw old visa and assumed that he was trying to get in illegally, took him aside, questioned him for 2 hours with no break, wouldn't let him drink anything, or go to the loo or use the phone (after an 8 hour flight, so it was about 2 in the morning uk time ) and then put him on a plane straight back to uk! Next year he applied for working visa and it was granted, but when it arrived it had the wrong date of birth, so he sent it back to be corrected and then it was cancelled! So he's obviously black listed now and can't get any sort of visa for the states.so annoying as he only tried to do the right thing.
They're both going to NZ, but gf visa starts a month earlier, so she's travelling around SE aisa from next week until Feb, then going to NZ to sort out accommodation and jobs until the season starts there. So adventurous, the thought of being away from home for so long totally freaks me out!Little monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160 -
Found out today that our local college runs a salon in the town centre for the trainees to practise so have booked a haircut for next week - £12.50, and that's because I want a restyle, would be £8.50 otherwise! I can't believe how cheap it is, my last haircut was £42! (hence hair not cut since June :rotfl:). Luckily my hair grows really fast, so any disasters can be cut into a shorter style and it will grow out in a few months. Anyone else tried their local college for hair/beauty stuff? They also do colouring, waxing, nails, massage etc, all at suitably bargainous prices, so may be trying out a few more of their services if the hairdressing is goodLittle monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160

I keep thinking about the local college salon but the website doesn't seem to have much info on it which is annoying!
Glad you liked your snapfish prints too, I found a place on Ebay that do little canvas prints from any image and I think they are only £4.75 so I might get one as a text in a few weeks time. I would speak to the homebase manager tomorrow and tell them one is not amused!
