Do you think if you take it in they may be able to find a volunteer to take her on? If i was near you i would :(
What about...getting a cat carrier from somewhere, putting a towel or small blanket in, and take away the box you have, put the kitten in while feeding mum then hopefully she might go in there after she has eaten then you can try and close the door?

    Good luck x :)

good news its a girl - think i will call her dotty if she survives!

i dont mean to sound so morbid but im trying not to get too excited about her just in case she doesnt make it

so vet said it looks like a wee infection - gave her an injection, painkiller/anti inflammatory/anti biotic and said she should be right as rein in 7-10days - he also said not to wipe it at all!

so she is back in the shed, and moma is back in the wee box with her! fingers crossed its all good from here!

Oh wow, I am welling up! Bless little Dotty, I hope she makes it. I feel honoured now, can I be Godmother?
My Cilla is currently expecting and due to drop any day now, so I shall have some wee dots of my own to look after :)
Be who you are, say what you feel, those who mind don't matter, those who matter don't mind.
They say that talking to yourself is a sign of mental illness. So I talk to the cats instead.

ok a lot of drama & plenty of advice needed

mother cat took kitten away, and dad found them between 2 walls at the end of the gdn - girl in pet shop said to take kitten in as soon as we found her - mother cat is still too rare to come too close

so we brought kitten in, and vet had already given my mum the kitten milk formula along with the weaning food

now mother cat knows the kitten is inside and we let her come into the hosue but she is constantly meowing and making a loud grunt noise (not a pur) - we dont know whether this is a good noise or not - meanwhile the kitten stays so silent

what are we meant to do? should mum put the mother cat outside? or will she just sit at the back door crying all night? or keep in her doors even tho she clearly has never lived in a house or had this much human contact!

or do we put the kitten back in the box out in the shed and let nature take its course? so the mother may move her again!

i dont think this one will have a happy ending - i feel soooo guilty taking the kitten after hearing how the mother reacted so i think we will just have to gave mother & kitten away - either cats protection or assissi sanctuary seem the best 2 options!

please someone reply as soon as you can cuz my head is pickled & im so emotional!

I would be quite concerned about putting the kitten back outside with the mum now ... poor mum sounds like she is very upset and ?growling to get her baby back but does not have the nerve to go inside.

If I were you (and given that you dont have time to take care of the tiny one) then I would give cats protection a ring asap and for them to take both kitten and mum away and reintroduce them or separate them depending on what they decide. That will be a really hard decision to make but I would be so concerned about giving the kitten back to the mum after removing it again, particularly at night when you cant see what is going on.

A friend of mine did just this with a stray and she also asked if she could have the cats back when they were ready and she got them both and they became tamer and tamer with her love and attention so all is not lost if you have to hand them over. I think you have done a fab job so far but sometimes, you have to admit defeat and let someone with more knowledge and time take over. You have done a great job so dont give yourself a hard time.

I dont know if its too late now? But i would get them both inside and their box that you have had them, put them in a nice quiet corner somewhere and do what was said above.

Given time she would have probably taken the kitten away anyway but i think its always better that you know they can be somewhere that they will be looked after properly.

Good luck whatever you decide to do , you've done a great job so far, well done :)
