Decorating isn't my thing, but I love baking and making them yummy. If you're looking for general baking cakes tips, I'd say always always sift everything - icing sugar, flour, cocoa, all of it.
I made a Yoda birthday cake last year for my son's 8th birthday. Went down a treat. When I get a mo, I will try and upload a pic.0 -
I finally made the mario cake for my ds, who's birthday is today.
I have to say its pretty yummy, its the first time I have actually tried one of my cakes iced!
I'm very pleased with the way it has turned out too, plus I also made some cupcakes too, to go into the goodie bags.

Recent cupcakes i made, i was playing around with my new nozzles -
I love all of your cakes0 -
Love the cakes
I use jane asher for some of the delicate decorations and colour my icing with the gels you get in Lakeland. It means it doesn't water down the icing and you can concentrate the colour pretty well. You need to knead the icing though for a while to get it encorporated.Feb GC: £200 Spent: £190.790 -

Posted this on weddings but maybe this thread is where I should have asked. I am making a truffle tower for my daughters wedding!! Similar to this..<< Back | Next >>
I have searched for suggestions on making it but none so far. Has anyone got any ideas. I thought of a chocolate cake in graduated layers and then shaped to a tower by cutting the sides then sticking truffles to it, they are mostly made and in freezer. Probably will use fudge icing on outside of cake to be a base for putting truffles on. Any suggestions/help would be great. Buying a fruit cake from M&S is not an option LOL
OK - this isnt exactly what you asked for, but this talented lady made our wedding cake - Ours was 3-tier square chocolate cake, with white choc cigerellos around the sides, and the top of each cake was filled with berries like a basket - that could work with your daughters truffle idea if you canot master the "Truffle Tower"
