How far in advance can i make the sponge cake and decorate it. ? It will be totally covered in ready to roll icing.

Hi
If you are using the spnge recipe stardrops posted this cake will stay fresh for quite a while. You can also freeze the cake before it is iced, when icing the cake I wouldn't do it any earlier than about 3 days as you want the icing to stay fresh.

Hi Becs
Is the frosting two coloiurs they look yummie we are doing a wear it pink day for breast cancer could you tell me how you have done the two different colours and are the cones hollow.
Thanks0 -
Hi the cones are filled with a carrot cake cupcake mixture and baked in the cones. The "ice cream" is just a lemon cream cheese frosting decorated with the normal ice cream decorations- strawberry sauce, hundreds and thousands and the obligatory flake!0

Do the cases not burn in the oven? As my oven is poop0 -
Hi, the recipe I used was this one:
150g margarine
150g soft brown sugar
3 large eggs
grated rind of an orange
2 teaspoons orange juice
125g finely grated carrots
150g plain flour
2 teaspoons baking powder!
Preheat the oven to 180 deg C/375f
Cream together the margarine and caster sugar until light and fluffy
Fold in all the other ingredients and mix well.
Divide amongst the cupcake cases and bake for 20 minutes or until firm to the touch.
!Ideal!!with!cream cheese cupcake frosting.
It was from cupcake style website buri have used various different recipes just for normal cupcakes.
EA the cones don't burn or go soggy, I usally fill them about half way and the cakes rise to the top but the carrot one was a very wet mix and they didn't rise.0 -

Hi Minimacka
Just wonderin how you are gettin on with your postman pat cake? Just noticed that it is now 3 yorkshire lasses I am also from North Yorkshire0 -
Hi Awsome and Stardrops, I made my postman pat practice cake yesterday and it turned out ok. The receipe that Stardrops gave me turned out lovely thankyou. I have decorated it fully and noted down a few little tips for improvement for the final one this weekend. I have brought it into work and its nearly gone and everyone has said how lovely it is. I will take a picture of the one I make this weekend and post it on here. It does take ages to make I spent all day yesterday in the kitchen but it will be worth it when i see my nephews face on his birthday.
Nice to have another Yorkshire lass on here. :j0
