Thats a lovely easter bonnet cake
It looks too good to eat!
Sorry for all the questions guys! I need to get practising my cake baking and decorating skills as I have been asked to make my best friends wedding cake - EEEEEEKKKK!
Anyway, what I would like to know is, I have made some banana muffins this morning, and the cases I have used make the cakes look really rubbish as they are all mishaped now.. They are from M&S, muffin size, and I used a deep muffin cake tin to try make them hold their shape. Any ideas? Where do you all get your cake cases from? (I have searched for good quality ones, but theres so many out there!)..
Could I empty the cases, blitz up the cake in the food processor and make cake pops from that?So much for 'Money Saving'0 -

Hi
Hmm this is a difficult one! ok how much mixture did you put in the muffin cases? Sometimes if they are too full rhen they rise they will be highed than the cake tin so there is niothing to keep them in line (so to speak) cos there is no support. I use muffin cases from Asda and put them in a deep muffin tin and fill half way up. I find they rise to the top and stay in shape. The only other thing I can think of is the tin is not deep enough. Sorry if this is not much help but cannot think of any of any other reasons.
Carnt wait to see the fondant iced cake and the cake pops0 -
This is the start of my Mum's 80th birthday cake. Tomorrow I will put the wording on the blank bit on top. I have really enjoyed doing this and I have loads of butterflies and flowers for the cupcakes too. I am going to put this cake on a top tier with two tiers of cupcakes underneath.
The criming has gone slightly off track on the left hand side, but for a first attempt at crimping, I am quite pleasedSPC 8 (2015) #485 TOTAL: £334.65
SPC 9 (2016) #485 TOTAL £84
SPC 10 (2017) # 485 TOTAL: £464.80

Hi you avid bakers
I have another question for you. I am attempting this cake for my nephews wedding.[/IMG]
Now Ive had a quote for £10 for the stand (deposit £70) but wondered if there is an diy option anyone has tried which would save me the worry about returning the hired stand in time, undamaged.
I was thinking about maybe getting an 16", 15" and 14" cake drum boards and gluing them together to get the height and maybe jazzy up the edges with some spangly ribbon or something. I think it will cost me under £10 to make and then there is no worries about taking it back.
whadaya thinks?0 -

so what exactly do you think you can do to damage a cake stand? if you are that worried about losing the £70 deposit, then check-out ebay. you can pick them up BIN for about £30 new, or if used the price obviously varies depending on bids, but usually about £10-£15
use it, then sell on again (or start hiring it out yourself)

Your cake looks wonderful and so do some of your other cakes. I was wondering if you would give me the recipe for the Giant Cupcake that you used. Many thanks in advance xxNever buys anything at full price unless completely forced to do so!!! :whistle:0
