Sorry you're having a rubbish time Jody.
That was really kind of your mum to help you like that.
What's happening today that is so bad, might help to get it all off your chest...VSP - £14.76 | Saving for a Deposit0 -
Hi All
Having a really bad day, have almost burst into tears twice already.
Had a bit of a rubbish shift on Sunday night, had a bit of a nightmare with the Irish guy again - he was just being loud and rude and then I couldn't get the alarm to set. I did manage to get it to set but I left the blinking light on so then was trying to let my boss know.........getting a bit fed up with it already, I know I need to do it but it's just hassle I could do without.
Yesterday was awful, the car went in for service and I finally picked it up at 5.45pm yesterday and it cost me £282 . It needed all new brake hoses and fluid, tracking and balancing plus the service. I cried when they told me how much, I've worked so hard to try and be good with money and get some savings together and that phone call just wiped it all out in one go when I thought I was starting to make some headway. My mum gave me £100 which she said she was going to give me for our holiday next year but she would rather I had it now if it would help. Obviously I am very grateful for this and it has helped a lot but it just stressed me right out and I still feel tense.
JUst to add insult to injury, yesterday when I dropped the car off at the garage I noticed a MAHOOSIVE spider sitting inside the door by the window. I am not stupidly scared of spiders but this was so big that it made me shudder, I didn't have anything to get it out with so now I don't know if it is still in there or not. I'm worried it will suddenly appear when I am driving along and will cause me to have an accident.
Rubbish!!!!!!!
Hi Jody,
So sorry to hear you're having such a bad couple of days.
Don't you just hate customers like that. It's really not what you need when you're tired and want to get home. Just keep thinking bout the money when that happens.
That's bad news on the car. Sorry that's wiped out your hard earned savings. But to look at it another way - imagine if you hadn't had those savings. Then it would have put you further into debt. At least as it was paid from savings it's paid, if you'd had to pay it with debt it would cost you more as it would be accruing interest now.
And I'd be the same bout the spider!!! I'm sure it is gone but maybe you could give your car a good hoover out tonight? That way you'd put your mind at rest that it's definitely not lurking!
Hope you're feeling better, keep ranting till you do if not!

Sorry you are having such a bad time Jody - keep chin up and like Beccie said imagine if you didn't have those savings....you had the money there, that's a good thing!
Keep chin up lovely, you've been doing fab! xx0 -
Thank you all for your kind words.
I know it could have been much worse had I not of had some savings there and all being told, with the money that my mum gave me, I am only £22 worse off for it. Just felt a bit like it was one step forward and two steps back, have been for my lunch time walk and feel a bit better and more positive now.
I checked my small change and have £30 exactly so I am going to try and pay that in this week. I have about £40 in my bank and £10 in my purse, I need to get petrol tonight to cover the rest of this week but hopefully can manage until payday which is techinically Monday but mine normally clears on Saturday.
Need to catch up on everyone elses diaries, forgive me for being a bit slack

I thought it was just me that things like this happened to! Every time I have any cash saved up my car breaks.
Hope it all gets better for you - one day we'll be debt free and when things like this happen we'll have enough money to just pay for it without having to worry:DOfficial DFW Nerd Number 526:T

It's typical isn't it!
Well to make matters worse.....the brakes locked up again on the way home last night , so whatever the problem is hasn't been fixed. Just called the garage and I am taking it back in on Saturday, because it doesn't happen all the time I think it's going to be hard to work out what it is!
OH has been trying to give me £200 since Monday night towards car/petrol etc and I am flatly refusing to take it. It's so sweet of him and I know he means well but I didn't get upset because I wanted him to give me money! He puts it in my bag and I put it back in his wallet when he isnt looking :rotfl:. He put it in my bag this morning cos he was leaving early so I'm going to pay it into my bank and then transfer it to his! He rarely checks his account so he probably wont even notice.
It's my mums birthday today so going to see her after work. My new custom fish tank will be ready friday too :T. All this expense is racking up though so need to come up with a plan for the summer and stick to it so I meet my savings target.
Have a good day all xx

Today I was kind of naughty and got a last minute birthday present for DD. We are going to a wildlife park for her birthday next month and whilst looking at their website noticed they did an animal adoption scheme , it was very reasonable at £15 and included a certificate and a plaque on the enclosure showing her name
. I emailed them and a very nice man replied saying he would keep an eye out for my forms and do his best to have the plaque up ready for her birthday visit :j
I could adopt any animal in the park so I chose the miniature donkey but my friend who went there 2 months ago doesn't remember seeing it :rotfl:, I might get a phone call asking me to pick another animal!!
Went to mums after work, she loved her bargain body shop goodies! OH said he would be there just before 7 but didn't turn up till blinking half past, fortunately I can forgive him as he had actually been to Tesco and bought my mum 2 bunches of flowers (what a kiss !!!!! :rotfl:). Had to pick mum up some tobacco on way home so actual spend of £5.77 as the £15 adoption hasn't come out yet.
Only a few days till payday!!!!!

That sounds like a lovely gift, I bet she'll love it. My friend adopted a chimp at MonkeyWorld for his mum a few years ago, she loved it!Little monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160

I hope she likes it, the plaque should say aged 10 as well which will be nice for her!
I am so glad it's friday, even though it has been a short week at week it just seems to have dragged on and on . Need to sit down this weekend and work out money, I paid the £200 OH gave me into the bank yesterday but that is going back to him at some point very soon! I officially get paid on Monday but my wages normally are available the saturday before although I don't really want to spend it.
Unfortunately I have to dip into savings temporarily tonight as I have to go and pick up my first custom built tank and pay him for the glass he got for the other two as he is a student and it's kind of wiped him out, I think it's going to be in the region of £100. It's a lot of money and a big hit but he has done me a really big favour by making them for me. I have earmarked some bits for the e of bay so will do that next weekend.
Might sound tight but have allocated £100 for summer holiday spending, the zoo is only £8.50 per adult and I have a free voucher for DD, going to take a picnic so we don't have to buy food there so should be a fairly cheap day. Another day I might do cake making and then walk up to the park for ice creams and maybe another day at Bewl Water or similar.
Busy weekend ahead but another pub shift = more money!! I need to get myself going to try and make my £600 September target :money:
