I used to post a 1.3kg parcel by standard parcel service for £4.95, I can now split this into 2 parcels of 650g each for £1.77 per parcel (£3.54 total) saving me £1.41 using 2nd class post.
I also noticed that cardboard boxes are now being sold on ebay designed specifically to fit just within the large letter slot, which might be useful for some sellers.0

Worked out the cheapest way to send it was parcelforce 48hr! Had i have gone through royal mail then it would have been cheapest to send it special delivery at £18.50!
Just wondering why you didn't sent by standard parcels between 2 and 4 kg its #7.70, ( I cant get a pound sign I get a hash if I press the button with the pound sign!!!). Cant think what first class mail is off the top of my head.... would be arouund 8.15.
ok,...... just checked on web, it would have been 8.14 first class, (woohoo getting good at guessing!)0

yep you are fine, normal size envelope (upto A5) and goes through wee slot still 32p 1st class and 23p 2nd class. No change there (though you can now send it up to 100grams), price wise.goggins1977 wrote:can someone please tell me as i am very confused !!! I've just got back from the main PO and am well pleased. I sold a hardback book and in a jiffy envelope it didn't look as though it passed easily through the slot. However at the main PO the lady tried it in the slot and it was really really tight she had to force it out as it got stuck, but she said it was a large letter as it did go through, and it only cost £1 30 something.
 Well chuffed.

Well would you believe it, both the books were heavier and bigger than the ones Ive sent earlier this week, they both cost 1.65, and went as a parcel.
One of them was AT LEAST 5 times heavier than another that was sent earlier in the week, ( which was effectively little more than a pamplet) but only 20-odd p dearer.
I despair, the system just doenst seem transparent at all to me  Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Our post office lady thinks they should fit through the slot easy for it to qualify as large letter. She said they will soon sort it at the sorting office if the postage in underpaid. I mean thats a worry on its own if the package is tight going through the slot :eek:0
