I did something similar, I made a slit in the far end so I could squash the air out of the borderline ones and make them go through the slot.

Ok, after staggering to the sub PO with 5 parcels, I'm facing a dilemma. I've overcharged a bit on postage... mainly due to the new pricing, and also not knowing how special delivery is priced! Could I please have your opinions on which of these people I ought to refund some money, bearing in mind I didn't spend any significant amount of money on packaging.

Oh, the guilt!!My TV is broken!

I have just been putting some stuff on turbo lister, and have changed all my items to sellers standard rate. That at least covers me, if i have undercharged for 1st then i have the option of 2nd!!!!
I got back nly had to post 2 items, but have ben ok just about charged 1.30 for one and that came to £1,27, so lost a little bit but i had used recycled packaging0 -
One of my most popular items, light but fairly fat, now costs £1 rather than 32p but would only fit the slot if I sent it with no padding at all. Tempting as it is to cut down on the packaging to get items through slots we do need to be careful that things are well protected. It will be a false economy to skimp on packaging and then start seeing damaged things arriving.0

Not at all happy with the new system, posted 11 small paperbacks 2nd class, fitted through the "large letter" slot with bags of room. Was charged "packet price for all of them "as they were not letters"! Was charged £1.09 for 9 books that would have cost 74 pence before today and £1.39 for 2 which would have cost 86p before. Am going to try a different post office tomorrow!I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.

I would certainly complain. It doesn't matter what you send inland UK, if it fits through the large letter slot then it is a large letter.

The easiest way to answer your question, is how much would YOU expect back if you had been overcharged by the above? personally, it depends on how much the item costs and charge is ie something I posted the other day cost £1.49 and I charged £1.75 so not over bothered (always use new paid for mailing bags), however, based on yours, if it were me, I would be refunding them all the difference between that overcharged less £1.50, the only argueable one would be the one where it is £1.62 - I'm sure others will disagree as "the postage you charge is what they agreed to etc etc", but you ob. dont feel comfortable and want to rectify the overcharging - nice to see an honest ebayer (not saying mse's aren't, just don't normally read anything nice about ebay lol)0 -

I did complain! I was told if I'd "left the books loose in the A4 envelopes they would be a letter, but because they'd been folded and taped (to prevent damage) they were not letters but packets"!
Will try another post office tomorrow and if I get same problem my RISI days are over, will just stick to Amazon. Was over £12 to post books that would have cost £7 odd before!I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.

All the books I sent this morning were just too large to go through the large letter slot, so I obviously didn't have any arguments as it was obvious they were packages. However, a couple of my items, including cards, ladies lingerie, craft things and all assorted ends and ends (well, it was a cheap listing day 10 days ago so I sold everything that was lying around) all went as a letter.
The lady I mentioned previously who was in the queue in front of me had a card that went as a package as it was an akward shape, so it does seem that my PO is interpreting the rules correctly and doing it totally by size and not by contents.
Definitely use a different PO in future becky!
