This was a cracking 'one-day' deal and rightly very popular, get a £50 voucher for £17.50. To get it you needed to go via My City Deals to buy the voucher which could be spent at sunglasses-shop.
Annoyingly though, sunglasses-shop put the prices up of Raybans and Oakleys on the day - not by much - ...
Unfortunately that isn't quite the whole picture
One item I was looking at, from neither of those brands, went from near £50 to near £100, not quite within the error range of 10% or so, and would thus cost near £70 rather than £18 in conjunction with this offer, close to a 4-fold increase.
Maybe it sold out as a clearance line and then had to be re-ordered; maybe it was a misprice in the first place; maybe it's sharp practice
I neither know nor care; I placed no orders and asked MyCityDeals for a refund of my 2 vouchers0 -
If the prices have returned back to normal why is it that the Ray Bans I wanted on Wednesday were priced at £83.30 but just now £100.30 i'm really fed up with this deal.:beer: Thanks to everybody who posts the competitions. :beer:0

the polarised aviators i ordered have remained the same price throughout.0

I also ordered mine at 8am yesterday so assumed i would be in the first 1500 sent out but not only didn't receive a despatch email yesterday, didn't get one today either?!
they were processing orders on a strict first come first served basis supposedly so in my estimation i should have got them today.how many orders do you think they had before 8am yesterday?
Is there anyone out there who has heard from them about despatch or one of the 1500 they posted yesterday?
Somehow I doubt it :mad:0 -
Awesome deal - thank you.0

Good news - I ordered sametime as you but haven't heard anything. I enquired politely via livechat and was fobbed off with a story of all the first day orders being picked, but due to people ringing in they haven't been able to despatch any! I only asked why I had been sent an email about first come- first served when this clearly wasn't the case and was told maybe despatch on Sunday, tracking number on Monday and to bear with them because they are selling below cost price and losing thousands on this deal - they then ended the chat session!
Seems like they are pretty stressed - I wouldn't have minded if they had said my order would take a week, but they simply would not check on individual status and blamed the delay on customers enquiring.0 -
I ordered a pair of prescription sunglasses but the £50 was not automatically taken off the value of my order. I checked with the online help assistant (via instant chat) to see what was going on before I placed my order and they told me to pay the full price and that the £50 would be refunded to my card.
The order appeared to have been placed correctly and I have had an email saying they are being made up for me but I have not yet checked to see if the £50 has been refunded to my card.
To be fair to the company I did ask for an email to confirm that they would do this before I ordered and they did send this so I do at least have some redress should I need to complain...
This was a reasonable deal (not fantastic) but it was very painful to achieve the saving i.e.not being allowed to use the code before 12pm, price changes, amounts not deducted as stated they would be etc. Looking back I probably shouldn't have bothered but before I knew that there would be these problems I had purchased the voucher from MCD and I didn't want to go through hassle of trying to get a refund of that.
Martin - I would recommend yhou avoid these sorts of things in the future, I think you have been in receipt of a side swipe of the shi**y stick that has hit both MCD and sunglassesshop...As is a tale, so is life: not how long it is, but how good it is, is what matters.0 -
People, think about it.
They normally get what, 100, 200, 500 orders a day. They link up with Mycitydeals and expect maybe a 50% increase in orders.
It is then advertised by MSE and they end up with 10,000 orders.
Then say 25% of those people start phoning or emailing etc. because they have not recieved confirmation e-mails. It's no wonder their staff are getting uppity. What do they do answer all enquiries and send less out or send orders out and ignore e-mails.
MSE had the best intentions in promoting this deal. Sunglasses shop and mycitydeals were'nt to know that MSE would push the deal.
I'm afraid in this case the problem was exacerbated by MSE.
Anyone who has been involved with Retail IT (I have for many years) will tell you that automated re-ordering systems will adjust prices.
Take a breath and be a bit more understanding. You are not dealing with Tesco, Currys or any other Tier 1 company just 2 average sized companies that thought they could work together.:beer:Comping 2008 wins £4842 2009 wins £950.50 2010 Wins £140 2011 £00 -
i think its unfair that people were aloud to get the sun glasse as earlie as 7am, when i waited at home patiently till midday and then went onto the site. I blew off working as a dinnerlady and lost about £12, just so i could "bag a bargin". i know feel as tho i have been let down, as it said in the Ts&Cs midday. they should of kept to their word. If i miss out on the glasses i ordered because they "decided" they were gonna do the deal 5 hours earlie, i wont be impressed!0
