For my 2 cents, I really like chip and pin, it's a load off my mind not having to worry about the security risks of the signature system.I have enough money to last me the rest of my life, unless I buy something.

I'm just looking at my statement now & I see a payment in a pub for the same amount 4 times on the same day which I'm very suspicious about but I always check the amount before entering the PIN. So is it possible for someone to put it through > 1 time?0

Plastic card fraud falls by 23%
"Although it's difficult to prove, we think that one of the reasons for this dip in card losses may simply be as a result of fraudsters realising that they can prosper more by targeting foreign-issued cards," said Katy Worobec, head of Fraud Control.

I wonder if the fall is due to cardholders NOT reporting card fraud to the Police anymore?
What should concern Credit Card Holders is that more victims of PIN based fraud are picking up the cost.
From the BBC:
"some banks are now turning down claims, saying customers must have left a copy of the Pin with their card."

Money Box presenter Paul Lewis appeared on Breakfast TV to discuss how consumer groups are calling for banks to change their approach to card fraud when a customer's pin has been used after the theft of a purse or wallet.0 -
To Quote BBC website
But at least one banking group, Natwest/Royal Bank of Scotland, is now turning down claims where the correct pin was used by the thief, unless there was an obvious opportunity for the pin to have been observed.
I will think a lot of banks will be adopting this policy, as more people are hard up at the moment, customers are trying to $cam the banks which is why it is making it more difficult for genuine people that do indeed fall victim to fraud are finding it harder to get their money back.0 -
I was victim of Chip&Pin fraud at ATMs cash machines in Reading(Berks) between the 22nd of February and the 1st of March 2006 just after the introduction of Chip and Pin in the Uk.
I lost £2100 on 8 different withdrawals of almost the maximum amount allowed on my card(Visa).
The bank in question, Halifax argued that i may have been neggligent or that i have given my details to someone else.
I reported the fraud to the bank the day i discover the problem and to the police to cut a long story short, i took Halifax to court after the FOS agreed with the bank.
The court gave the judgment to Halifax(Job V Halifax) even though the bank admitted that, it has destroyed the primary evidences of the case(first of its kind in the UK), the bank destroyed what could have established which card was used in these transactions.
The judge took the view that, because he was unaware of any other chip and pin security breach in the uk at atm cash machines, then Halifax has proven its case.
Halifax court bills before the trial was around £40.000.00, Halifax tried to have me withdraw the case before trial so that they can drop the cost.
I am looking for anyone who has been victim of chip and pin cards fraud at atm cash machines, whether the bank refunded the money or not, as this could enable me to appeal against this decision and this could help other victims to have the strenggth to stand against the banks.0 -
Does anyone know of a work around for the problem of paying for fuel at gas stations in the USA with UK credit cards on automatic fuel pumps? At one time this was easy to do, now you are requested for a ZIP code to enter similar to using a pin code here in the UK. However if you are a visitor to the USA you obviously don't have a ZIP code so how do you get around this problem other than paying by cash all the time which defeats the point of having a credit card which ironically was first used in the USA?0
