Your right it is too easy for someone to see you entering your PIN.
The primary aim of plastic was to make carrying a card safer than carrying cash. You have to ask yourself this "Does a PIN offer me a higher level of personal safety than a Signature or Photo Card?"0 -
So how do you persuade your CC Co to give you a Chip and Signature card?

Insist.
Qualify this by telling them you are genuinely concerned over PIN issues, you have no intention of changing all your cards to operate with the same PIN, and you can't remember seldom used numbers.
These are all true in my case and I have cards from three different issuers being a bit of a tart!0 -
Thanks James.
I'll fire them off an email, letting them know I won't be using their card until they have replaced it with a C&S card. Should do the trick.

It also highlights card issuers failings in making consumers aware of Chip & Signature Cards.0 -
If you have any difficulties or concerns with Chip & PIN have a look at the following from In Touch:

If everyone is entitled to a Chip & PIN card, this would also suggest they are equally entitled to a Chip & Signature Card.

Iam just new to the forum and have not read all the previous 26 pages on this, but from reading last few comments seems some people would prefer the option of having a signature card.
Most banks etc CAN provide this to you, however this is only meant to be for folks that for example are maybe dislexic (spelling?) or for oaps who really cant cope with change.
Or if you are registered disabled/blind then the bank (at a push) will provide you with a letter for you to present with your card at any pos.Compo challange:Amount won £0 Need to win £2400 -
Abbey is offering a photo card. You can have any photo you want put on your card (within reason) for £5..
Here's the perfect solution for Cardholders who can't manage or simply don't trust PINs.
All we (cardholders) need to do is put our own photo on the Chipped card with a comment such as "Cardholders Photo."

Just a note to point out that the abbey photo card offer is only for their debit card, not their credit card.
