Suncar is a part of decode.
For an update, I intend to request a refund from my credit card company, quoting section 75.
A part of credit card law, introduced in the 1970s and known as section 75, means credit card companies must take responsibility for refunding customers if the goods they bought do not turn up.0 -
I booked a car through suncar early this year. Picked it up from Solmar car hire at Alicante airport where I had to pay again as suncar did not pass on the payment to the company. They gave me a bit of paper telling me to contact suncar.
Have emailed, where they asked for bank details as they cannot refund back to credit card. This has been going on for over a month and still no money back. I only ever hear from them when I email them first. Have contacted credit card company. Fingers crossed.
suncar have had my money for over 4 months.
I WILL NEVER USE SUNCAR AGAIN AND ADVISE EVERYONE TO STAY CLEAR OF THIS COMPANY.0 -

DO NOT USE SUNCAR!!!!!!! they take your money then do not pay the carhire firm you then have to pay again and try to claim your money back .
This happened to me in Portugal this year 2010 if you try to contact the company they just say "we will speak to our finance department "
trying to claim through my credit card company now 1 and a half months later.0 -
I usually use carjet - but suncar are about £40 cheaper for 10 days.
Not sure if they are any good or not.
Love carjet - not sure if I should take the chance to switch!
I booked a car on line with Suncars.co.uk for a pick up and drop off at Sophia Airport. The price quoted and paid for online was for a 'Final Price' of £75. I then received a confirmation from the car hire company in Bulgaria and on the front sheet it said 'Final price £75 for pick up and drop off at Sophia Airport'.
Imagine my surprise when I was met at the airport with the car and then a fee of 11 Lev was demanded to pay for the parking ticket to get the vehicle out of the car park and a 32 Euro meet and greet charge.
Three international calls to Suncars with total frustration as they could do nothing to help as they stated my contract was with the car hire company and myself and not them.
On return Suncars hid behind terms and conditions and small print and the fact that the car company said that there might be a charge for picking up outside of Sophia city area. This was not at all plain when I booked. When I am told and pay a 'Final Price' I do not expect to have a 33% extra charge added when I get to the vehicle in a different country
I believe this is 'sharp practice' I was lured into the deal by the 'final price' shown on screen by Suncars.co.uk.
Legally I have been given advice that I would have to sue the Bulgarian Car company as Suncars.co.uk are agents for them.
My advice to readers is
1. Avoid this company
2. Read every single detail of any car hire booking.
3. Know that you are booking through an agent and they are not acting for you but on behalf of the car hire company and any problems you have will mean you have to deal with a company in a different country.
An expensive experience!

AVOID DECODE CAR HIRE - Every time I read a thread about this company it makes my blood boil. I had the same experience, booked and paid for a car, had to pay again at the destination airport, Decode ducked and dived about refunding my original payment. I had to involve my credit card in the end. This company sucks. How are they allowed to get away with this week after week.
Now I see that Suncars are allegedly part of this racket.
I try to warn people off Decode as often as I can. If everyone does the same perhaps we can put this disreputable company out of business.

I have just had the same experience from Ireland and picked up car at Bourgas Airport....straight into an argument because the guy said they were never paid....Handed over €100 until he sorted it out back at the office...........HA SHOULD HAVE SEEN IT COMING. Go back the following Saturday to be told no return of deposit....The car wasn't even worth €100 a banger !!! Just been on to visa now god knows where this will end.....All were trying to do is save a few bob were all tighting our belts without these people preying on us. Wish I found this site before now...

I too have just been stung by this company. I booked a car (and paid up front), when I chased up the booking I was told that they hadn't heard back from their partner so could not help me. This is the 2nd time this has happened (out of 2 bookings, not a great track record guys..) Fortunately I didn't pay in advance last time.
I cancelled the booking and have now recieved an email saying they do not have the facility to refund a credit card transaction?!? If I want my money back I will have to supply them with my personal bank account number?!?
With everything else I have read about this company I will not be doing this. I have reported it as an unauthorised transaction and will get my money back through my card issuer.
I urge anybody that reads this DO NOT DEAL WITH SUNCAR!!!0 -
I TOO GOT SCAMMED EXACTLY THE SAME WAY IN TURKEY 2 weeks ago. It was all I could do to stop myself throwing a right hook out of frustration at the Turkish guy shrugging his shoulders who demanded more money after I had already paid 2 months previously online - DO NOT GIVE THIS COMPANY YOUR BANK DETAILS - I AM TODAY PHONING THE CREDIT CARD COMPANY AND GETTING THIS COMPANY BANNED FROM SCAMMING ANYONE ELSE (Wasting your time with the Trading Standards Agency - they are useless) The trouble in this country is that when we find these !!!!!!!s our Legal system cannot or will not punish them - By the way an address I have is: ST CLEMENTS HOUSE, OFFICE 209, 27-29 CLEMENTS LINE, LONDON, EC4N 7AE (But I would even hold my breath that this is legit)0
